Wyze Switch high lag/latency

I’ve just installed Wyze Switch to control some lights in my home. Immediately I’ve noticed a significant latency between clicking the switch and light turning on/off. There is up to a second latency while I’ve expected an almost instanteneous response.

I’ve tried both “Smart” mode for the switch as well as “Classic” + trigger rules, but the latency is the same. I’m controlling Wyze Plugs with the newly installed switches, but I believe Wyze Bulbs would behave the same.

I believe that Wyze Switch is communicating to the Plugs through the cloud, which is understandable for complex integrations with 3p services and mobile app, but I was wondering if there is a way to bring down the latency between the Switch and the Plugs assuming they can talk directly to each other

Clarification: I’m experiencing high latency with “single click” (no “double/triple click” or “hold” involved) when controlling Wyze Plugs. I don’t have latency when controlling dumb lights/plugs (“Classic” mode)

Welcome to the forum @mdk !

There definitely is a delay. I have 16 switches installed and have found no way to reduce the delay, but this is only for rules or additional controls in my case.

I believe your assumption to be correct as it is all in the cloud computing.

On the devices I use the Wyze Switch for that are not smart like bathroom fans and wall lights the reaction is instant.

Note that you can only use the smart option with Wyze Bulbs. All else should be set to classic.

The “Additional Controls”, i.e. double-click, triple-click, long-press, are definitely not the speed of electricity. They are the speed of WiFi and Internet so understandable the lag involved there. That’s physics.

The single-click feature, your basic hall light on a basic switch control works pretty fast… although, I don’t use that feature much as I have them on hall switches so I use the “Additional Controls” MUCH MUCH more. I don’t notice it probably.

Thanks for the replies.

Based on similar topics I conclude that currently there is no way to reduce the latency when controlling Wyze Bulbs/Plugs using Wyze Switch.

Possibly Matter support could help with this in future by moving the interactions between the switch and the bulb/plug to a local network, but it has yet to be implemented in the FW
