You can have 10gig fiber connection, but if your WiFi router is bad or has limited range, your cameras would have a difficult time connecting. This is an extremely common misunderstanding.
There is no misunderstanding, as I said my other non-wyze connected devices work fine. I am versed in networking.
There is a bug in the Wyze app for Android. It will not set v3 to record continuously to microSD card. You should instead use the Wyze app for iOS which WILL set all Wyze cams to record continuously to microSD card. You can do this on an iOS device, such as an iPad or iPhone.
I reported this Android Wyze app bug to Wyze one or two months ago, but apparently they havenât fixed it yet.
Would think more would be reporting it as the v3 is probably the most prolific cam out there. Have you tried clearing the cache (both within the Wyze app and in Android settings) or totally uninstalling and reinstalling it?
Thank you for the suggestion, but at this point it is simpler to use the Wyze app for iOS on my iPad, rather than spend my time trying to get the Wyze app for Android to work on my Samsung Galaxy phone.
I wouldnât be so sure. Iâm a longtime user of many of their devices. I have had countless SD cards destroyed of all brands and types, often in just a couple days. Sorry, more than coincidence. I have also watched how Wyze has rolled out increasingly expensive and expansive subscriptions while steadfastly refusing to allow very obvious user-demanded features (e.g. easily copy or directly access outside of their terrible app recorded video from MY OWN SD CARD). The company is more than selfish, They are doing most things accused of them in these forums on purpose. Donât be so naive.
9 cams, 9 SD cards, over 2 years. No failures, no issues. Thatâs my experience.
If they were doing this intentionally, why am I not affected? Why are so many others here not affected?
If youâre having issues with SD card failures (or simply reading SD cards in the cams) I am not denying that it could be a bug, issue with firmware, issue with the app, etc. Iâm just saying the conspiracy theory that it is intentional is stupid. Focus on submitting logs and getting the necessary info to Wyze so whatever issue youâre seeing can be resolved rather than wasting time spreading nonsense.
[Mod Edit] I have had issues too with Wyze V3 pan and SD cards, just like others haveâŚ.
I donât have SD card problems with my V3s now, but I used to. It was fixed but Wyze has indicated there are actually several bugs and possibly, quite a few V3s still have them.
I have five V3s from 2022 and one from 2024 and no issues with SD cards. Also no issues with the V4. ![]()
Itâs the V3 pans with the issue
The title of the topic âWyze purposely sabotages âRecord to MicroSDâ implies a conspiracy to force users into subscription on all camera models. I am just stating facts that I have never had an issue with any of my cameras and SD cards, five in operation since 2022.
It has gotten so bad on one V3 pan that I finally took it down recently.
V3âs used to have occasional SD corrupting hiccups but they seem to have gotten better as I rarely see that now.
But this one V3 pan is just useless for SD recording as it usually fails shortly after reformat, so itâs now in the junk pile.
My 2 pan V3s are working fine now. In fact, I gave away my spare/backup pan V3 because I donât need it anymore. Was hoping to replace one with a pan V4 because the latter has a wider FOV. Things are not looking good for the pan V4.
I guess I should of said that âOne V3 panâ is useless for SD recording.
I have another V3 pan that works as it shouldâŚ.
Like with every new product. too fast out of the door. Wyze is used to have users do all the testing.
So now I need to change my cell phone for the IOS since Wyze wonât fix their bugs. Time to change platforms. Apparently not alone in that prospect.
I canât replicate this. I switched a V3 from âEvents Onlyâ to âContinuousâ. Itâs working.
I have 22 Wyze cams of various types. No issues with SD cards over past 3+ years.
I have definitely had wifi issues as my ISP provider does updates that we are not informed about on a regular basis. This does cause problems in some of my Wyze & Nest cams. As well, I have done a Netspot Pro WiFi network survey of our residential home in a single family neighborhood and there is tons of interference from a multitude of 2.4 networks. I posted on this a few months ago.
I setup an animation to restart all of my Wyze cams periodically again as I have no idea when my ISP do their changes.
This is not at all the inference I would draw. I donât use iOS unless I have to, but there have been reports here in the Forum of certain app issues that have affected iOS users but not Android users and also issues that have affected iPad (iPadOS) users but not iPhone (iOS) users, so I donât think any particular OS is immune to the peculiarities involved in cross-platform development. Bugs can happen anywhere, and sometimes resolution can come quite a long time after a bug was initially introduced, especially if community members really push them for a fix (Iâm thinking here specifically of the Cam Outdoor cooldown issue).
