Wyze Pro Router Bridge Mode - significant wifi performance impact

I already contact Wyze support via a ticket but I do not have any confidence it will go anywhere. Any tickets I place seem to just get closed with no solutions and I have lost all hope with Wyze support AI and staff.

I have three Wyze Pro Routers. All Wi-Fi and ethernet testing has been done with the same device unless mentioned otherwise. My computer, which is a separate device from my testing device, is connected at -50db or better to a satellite router.

My initial setup: Wyze Pro Router, in standard mode, connected to my Metronet Fiber modem. Wi-Fi speeds cap out at 600+Mbps on download with varying speeds in uploads. This is with my phone, connected via Wi-Fi 6E, standing two feet away from the router. My computer sits behind a couple of walls, and I get about 300Mbps download, which is acceptable. If I connect directly to my root router with an ethernet cable, speeds are 950+Mbps for both upload and download. 6Ghz backhaul on all routers. Connecting directly via ethernet to the nearest satellite router (20 feet away, direct line of sight to root router) gives me similar speeds.

My new setup: The root Wyze Pro Router is connected to my Mikrotik non-Wi-Fi router (used as a dhcp server). The Wyze Pro Routers are in bridge mode. They were factory reset in my troubleshooting process for solving the described issue below. I have set manual addresses for each Wyze Pro Router in an effort to troubleshoot with no results. 6Ghz backhaul on all routers.

The Problem: Ever since I changed the routers to Bridge mode, my Wi-Fi speeds have been cut to less than a 1/3 of the “normal” mode speeds. At first, I thought it was an issue with the Mikrotik non-Wi-Fi router, but I have ruled that out. Reverting to normal mode fixes the Wi-Fi speeds. Wireless 6Ghz backhaul on all routers.

My troubleshooting with ethernet connections: The Mikrotik non-Wi-Fi router has the Metronet Fiber Modem plugged into port 1. The Mikrotik non-Wi-Fi router has the root wyze router in port 2. I connected directly to the Mikrotik non-Wi-Fi router and got speeds of 950+Mbps for upload and download. Connecting directly via ethernet to the wyze root router provides me the same speeds, 950+Mbps upload/download. Connecting directly via ethernet to the nearest satellite router (20 feet away, direct line of sight to root router) gives me 100Mbps download speeds with 900Mbps upload speeds. We have just established that the Wi-Fi backhaul from the nearest satellite router to the root router is capable of 900Mbps speeds but has significantly degraded download speeds. I have removed all dns filtering and firewall rules on the Mikrotik non-Wi-Fi router with the same poor performance.

My troubleshooting with Wi-Fi connections: The wiring to and from the root router is the same as above. Testing Wi-Fi speeds standing two feet away from the root router connected via Wifi6E average at 130Mbps download/upload. Testing Wi-Fi speeds at the nearest satellite router (20 feet away, direct line of sight to root router) gives me an average of 150Mbps download/upload. My computer, which sits behind several walls, gets the same speed. I have removed all dns filtering and firewall rules on the Mikrotik non-Wi-Fi router with the same poor performance.

My request: clearly bridge mode is the problem here as it somehow changes the performance of the wifi for no perceivable reason. I am out of ideas on how to test this issue. I have no solutions I can implement as the wyze pro routers are locked down even in the web interface. Any solution may require firmware changes to the devices. Any changes made to the Mikrotik non-wifi router make no difference. Please help!

No idea what is going on with the Wyze routers, but I applaud your plan to use a Mikrotik router as your main router. Using a RB4011iGS+ here as my main router. Far more capable than any consumer router. And I’m using Meraki enterprise WiFi.

My issue is price at this point. I want to get rid of these damn wyze routers that seem to get no support.

Did it get any better? Or is bridge mode not working as expected still? Any reaction from wyze?

Wyze is selling all remaining routers at a steep discount. I think they may have pulled support of them.
