Wyze plugs KEEP going offline, with only fix being pulling it and replugging it in

Not sure why anyone would want to test it after Wild Bills post.

Give it more time. It starts that way…then wham they blink forever while all other devices around it work on the same wifi network.

Catching up on this thread. I really hope they don’t rush some firmware out claiming it is fixed when it isn’t. Please get this right the…2nd time!

I also believe everyone that owns a set of plugs should be offered a credit for the MAJOR inconvenient that this is causing. I was almost late for an appointment because I had to sit and wait for my coffee to finish brewing at home. My plug went offline in the middle of the night and my timer didn’t turn the plug on which in turn brews my coffee in the morning. I’m not happy! Being late for that appointment would not have been good to say the least. Me without coffee in the morning is also not good.

In other words: FIX YOUR STUFF (you know what it said before I edited this post…twice)

Lol, that’s funny. My question is why they just didn’t roll back to the last working version and redeploy it as a new one.
I have all my new ones pulled, wasn’t worth the hassle.

My guess is when they added the logging functionality via the firmware update that screwed everything up, there is no way to remove that capability. Thus they are now stuck trying to tame the monster that they created.

IT truism that applies to WYZE: Some times we are our own worst enemy.

I have been working an entire 10 days. Hopefully they found something?

Hmm, I’m starting to think that there may also be an application component to this issue. I have my WiFi AP set to reboot every single day at 6:55am. When WYZE plugs work properly they are back online by 6:58AM at the very latest. This morning I watched one of the plugs go bonkers.

Right when the plug should have connected to the WiFi network it instead clicked and started a fast blink for about 10 seconds, then went into a slow blink. To try something new, I decided to restart my Android phone. The plug kept doing the slow blink while my phone was rebooting. Literally as soon as the phone came back up the blue light on my plug stopped blinking.

For the record, my phone was not on my wifi network prior to restarting it nor has it been connected to my wifi network since I restarted it. Please know, this procedure has worked for me once and was performed within 30-seconds of seeing the plug go bonkers. Maybe others can try this if they witness a plug go offline?

I have tried restarting my phone before, but the plugs had always been blinking blue for a very long time. The thing that was different here is I bounced my phone within 30-seconds of seeing the plug go nuts. It is odd that the plug didn’t stop blinking until my phone came all the way up again. This has me thinking a force stop on the app might not do it. The next time I witness a plug go offline I’m bouncing my phone again. If I can repeat the process with the same results I’ll know I’m on to something.

I followed your suggestion. I signed up for the beta. Then deleted my plugs. Cleared the cache. And re added the plugs. They worked… for about 3 days. Now 3 out of the 4 are showing ā€œofflineā€ again.

Update – checked again now a few minutes after my last post now all 4 of 4 are offline. Last time they were reset was about 3 to 4 days ago.
Why does this keep happening? Its a pain to reset them and redo the rules/triggers/automations every time.

Don’t delete the plugs! Simply re-add them and all that stuff will still be there. It won’t solve the constant offline problem. Wyze needs a firmware fix for that. You still be repeating the process until there is a fix.

Yup, for a short time we were thinking that completely removing and adding would help with the longevity between having to re-add them to the app. Unfortunately we have learned that it does not make any difference what so ever.

I suppose it was more of a trial and error thing than anything else (removing the plug from the app, clearing the cache, and then re-adding)
Beta version released a new firmware update for the Hub. Might try to reset a couple plugs this afternoon to see if the hub updates would have any effect on the plugs staying connected for more than a few days.

Don’t install it yet, if you haven’t already. Check the post in the beta section. Multiple problems.

Hmmm… Support has be silent for a while… Perhaps a recall is in the works? I wonder if some minor cosmetic damage would prevent my returns from being accepted… like being run over by a truck and set on fire…

I don’t think they’d do a recall if they don’t have a product to replace it with ready to release.
Though who knows, maybe running over them with a truck is the magic touch. They won’t work any less badly as they did before…

I have the exterior plug (2 outlet) and it works well, so they ā€œcouldā€ phase out the interior ones. The problem is I have 4 of these interior ones, that I would love to get to where I could depend on them.

When I first got them a year or more ago they were very dependable. Its only been these last two (maybe three?) months now where they suddenly will only stay online for a couple days at a time.
But ya, this morning I started wondering if it’d be worth picking up the cheap, offbrand ones from Amazon.

I have Kasa and Wyze plugs. Kasa plugs have been rock solid. An occasional hiccup if I lose my internet connection…sometimes requires a power cycle. Recently added a switch and plug to my inventory as well as a three outlet surge protector and all are working well so far.

This hasn’t worked twice yet and the opportunity presented itself again today.

I installed a different wifi repeater/transmitter yesterday, and got all the devices onto that network. About 12 hours in now and so far plugs and rules are staying online. I wonder too if reinstalling the Sense Hub will help. I don’t plan on doing firmware updates for the plugs if I can help it.
