I have model WLPP1CFH trying to add it to app it fails to pair. the phone is on the plug so the error saying its to far away is bunk . its the newer one with button on the side
Is your phone attached to a 5 GHz Wi-Fi network during the pairing process? You may need to disable the 5 GHz radio/SSID on your wireless access point in order to get it to pair. I had to do that recently with an original Plug.
This was good advice. I shutoff all 5G and 6G WiFi on my phone and setup a 2.4G only guest network on my router, and it still would not work, but I broke out an ancient 2.4G-only tablet, connected to my non-guest network, and it worked first time, instantly. Wasted over an hour on this.
I appreciate that. That’s what I try to share when I can, hoping that it will help others avoid some of the frustration I’ve experienced. As the post that I linked to above indicates, when I had this issue with a Plug recently, I had to modify my network in a number of different ways in order to force the phone to connect to the 2.4 GHz SSID (I even had to switch to an older model of phone at the end, and even though the phone supports both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi, I had to make 5 GHz completely unavailable to it). There was much swearing during this process.
