Wyze plug single tap on and off... how recreate shortcut?

We have 4 wyze plugs and I created a shortcut for each of them. One of the shortcuts got deleted and I am trying to recreate it but it’s forcing me to create one to turn on and another to turn off. For the 3 other wyze plugs, it’s just a single tap on the same shortcut button to turn on and turn off. I also notice with these 3 shortcuts there is a wyze plug icon but the new shortcut is the green bullseye icon. Do I have some legacy shortcuts that can no longer be created or am I just in the wrong area in the app to recreate the single button to both turn and off the plug? Great room lamp, Christmas tree, and living room tree in the image below is what I’m trying to recreate

What you want is a Favorite Device, not a Favorite Shortcut Automation. You should tap on Devices, find your “living room lamp” device (or whatever name you assigned to the Plug), and “star” that. Then tap Automations, find the “living room lamp” Shortcut, and “un-star” that. Then tap Favorites, find your living room lamp device (the new device favorite) at the top of your Favorites, tap-and-hold, then drag that down where you just had this Shortcut Favorite that you removed above.

I think you’re confusing Shortcut Automations and Devices and conflating them all in what you’re seeing (and showing in your screenshot) on the Favorites tab. The reason three of those four tiles show the Plug icon instead of the Shortcut (star) icon (not a bullseye) is that those three tiles are for favorited Devices, and that’s what you should see (the Plug icon) when you re-“favorite” that Plug to add it back to the Favorites tab of your Home screen.

Wow!! There is no way I would have figured that out. Thank you so much. Hey Wyze… it’s not intuitive at all how to create a shortcut this way with it under Automations! Please fix!

Not to belabor the point, but I still think you may be conflating Devices and Shortcuts. You can “star” both to have them appear on your Favorites tab in the app (noted also on the app page on the main site), and that’s been possible since the introduction of the v3 app a couple of years ago. Basically, anything you “star” ( ➜ ) on the Devices and Automations tabs will show up on the Favorites tab. Then to remove something from the Favorites tab, you have to tap on the Devices or Automations tab and “un-star” ( ➜ ) the item.

What you showed in the screenshot in your initial post was a combination of devices and shortcuts on your Favorites tab:

  • The “Great Room Lamp” outlined in green is a favorite device tile, which is why
    • you see the Wyze Plug icon on the tile and why
    • you can tap the to enter the device’s main screen and
    • you can tap the main tile body to toggle that device on and off.
  • The “living room lamp” outlined in red is a favorite shortcut tile, which is why
    • you see the default Shortcut Automation icon on the tile and why
    • you can tap the to enter the shortcut’s editing screen and
    • you can tap the main tile body to execute the shortcut.

As a community volunteer, I don’t speak for Wyze, but I would imagine that they believe this is already working as expected and that it’s not something that requires any kind of “fix”. Personally, I’d rather see them concentrate on other app usability issues and actual bugs, but I’m nowhere near being the decision maker who prioritizes their development goals. :man_shrugging:
