In addition to the excellent features already built into the new Palm Lock, here are some product roadmap suggestions:
Add metal trim options to comply with HOA standards that may include metal, such as satin nickel finish (except for keypad area). My HOA rejected my lock and I had to return it.
The rechargeable battery with a built in backup battery is the best answer to the environmental and backup issue I’ve seen. If Wyze were to add anything else, I would suggest having a system internal shutdown before the backup battery is fully depleted, and a mechanical pushbutton under the slide down cover so even if the backup battery approached dead if away for an extended period (like for a vacation home), it still could unlocked without using the metal key.
The metal key is also an essential feature for a large condo HOA since it permits them to have access regardless of any electronic technology should there be an emergency.
My understanding is that the mechanical key itself or the USB-C port on the bottom for supplying “emergency” power are the intended back-up unlock methods when both the Main Battery and Backup Battery are exhausted. I do like the idea of an additional button or switch for the Interior Assembly, though, because on a few occasions I’ve needed to completely power cycle my Palm Lock, and the only way I’ve been able to do that has been by removing both batteries.
I know some users vocally disagree, but I like having a physical key as a mechanical unlocking mechanism in the event that everything else fails. I just wish it used a cylinder compatible with Kwikset SmartKey or that such a cylinder could be swapped into Palm Lock as a replacement keyway.
