Will this Camera ever be able to be used off and WIFI Network with Motion Detection? I purchased it for that use and it appears it does not?

I share your disappointment, it appears they must be connected to home WiFi before taken on the road so they can contact Wyze servers over the internet. And then it appears restricted to use doing either timelapse recordings which take forever to download upon completion, or else used for a scheduled recording.
I find the travel mode confusing in regard to connecting the phone to the camera’s wifi. Then what? Suppose you leave a campsite or other destination and connect the phone to another Wi-Fi network, does the Outdoor cam then quit working???
