This is a huge pain for me because I have 5 cams to upgrade. I also found none of my V3 V2 wall mount accessories are not compatible with OG.
I agree. Thatās why I bought only 1 OG, 1 Tele and a 2-pack of adapters. Iām not about to replace or adapt all of my existing mounts (20+).
You can either buy adapters for your old mounts, buy new M4-type mounts or return your OG cams and replace with other types. The OG and OG Telephoto are the only Wyze cams that use M4 threads. All other cams use 1/4-20 threads. I upgraded most of my v3 cams with v3 Pro and Cam Pan v3 cams and used my existing v2/v3 mounts (1/4-20).
Edit: I just took a look at your mounts and they donāt use the post threads at all. Iām not sure how you could make those slot-in mounts work with any āupgradeā cam.
Edit edit: I just compared and measured the v3 and v3 Pro mounting base plates and they are identical. Which means a v3 Pro cam base will slide right into your existing slot-in mount. Unfortunately, the v3 Pro cam is significantly more expensive and frequently unavailable compared to Cam OG.
I am strong advocate of Wyze cameras everywhere I can discuss. But this issue even if it small is making me furious. I am grown in Old IBM environment where standard for mechanical things were best. best in design.
I will not buy any wyze camera now till they resolve it. I just found out this as I was changing my V3 with this OG I received yesterday.
And Wyze you better solve it and send me the free adapter or adapter for present thread size.
What kind of R&D they have there? congrats on screwing simple things.
Wyze Size does matter. literally screwed on screw thread size.
This is interesting. I did not need a special adapter A screw a little looser with some blue thread lock can work.
I wanted to use the V3 Mount because I want the magnet and the lightweight nature.
I did not have an issue reusing the V3 holder with this cam a new stainless washer and screw mentioned above. For good measure just add some blue thread lock so you can allow it to be tight enough and still be able to rotate.
I think we are needing this - M4 x 0.7 external to 1/4-20 Internal - So far I havent found this exact configuration. May have to fabricate our own or possibly special order. Pretty disappointing.
3 or 4 months ago i bought 3 of the 2 pack on amazon,i also bought a few white full enclosure units also on Amazon.com
