Wyze OG camera stopped working suddenly

2 of my Wyze V3 cameras suddenly stopped working so I purchased 2 new OG cameras in November and installed them in December. One of the OG cameras came offline and resetting, restarting or unplugging as not worked. I deleted the camera to reinstall and now it won’t even connect. Even when I change power outlets. Is this camera already dead???

The others including older ones and working fine. The camera that isn’t working is also closer to the mesh box so I really hope I haven’t wasted my money buying a new cam. Anyone encountered similar issue and can help?

Welcome to the Forum, @janienne!

When you’re asking if the camera is “dead”, that makes me wonder what’s actually happening with the camera. When you connect it to power, what does the camera do? Do you hear the IR filter clicking into or out of place and/or see any LEDs light up? What happens if you do a factory reset?

Yeah as @crease said, need to know the symptoms. If it isn’t powering up at all, try a different power brick and make sure the cord is seated properly in the tail that comes out of the back of the camera. If those don’t fix it, it may have died, and you’re under warranty so should be able to get it replaced.

Is it using the same outlet or anything else that the V3s that died were using? Just a separate thing to think about, maybe there is something killing these cams (or the power supplies) like voltage fluctuations or bad outlet, etc.

There is a chance that you have 3 good cameras and 3 burned out power bricks, so I’d test them all using any USB power plug that is 1000MA or higher (most cell phone chargers will work, even a USB power bank will typically power them up).

Obviously test the cables too but unlikely that you have 3 bad USB cables unless they were subject to repeated stresses like being in a window that gets opened/closed a lot.

Dead as in i am not even hearing a clicking sound. Light isn’t coming on either so i am unable to reconnect it on the app as I deleted it from the app to try to reconnect it

I didn’t try a different power brick actually so I will try that one today. It’s using different power outlets from the others as its location is different from the others but I did try 2 different power outlets in the house and no luck. I will also try the options you’ve suggested and provide feedback.

I greatly appreciate the responses from yourself and @Crease . Thank you so much! This camera has been driving me mad all wkd!

Might as well try a different power brick and micro USB cable just to rule both out.

Depending on how you had the options set (like if Night Vision Mode and Camera Status Light are set to Off), then you might not hear the click or see any lights when you give it power, so those indicators may or may not be helpful. :man_shrugging:

I agree with @dave27’s suggestion of trying different power sources (outlets, adapters, cables), though this may actually be a dud camera. If you bought directly from Wyze, I’d go ahead and open a ticket and tell them the troubleshooting you’ve already done. They may ask for some more information (proof of purchase, order number, MAC address, Device Info screenshot), offer a replacement, and advise you to recycle the faulty camera. That’s been my recent experience, anyway.
