Wyze Notification, Status Update, and Rules Delay - 8/28/20

UPDATE 9:57 PM PT - Thank you for your patience. We are working through the notification and status change backlog and expect this to be resolved by 5 AM PT or earlier. During this time, you may experience delayed notifications, repeated notifications, or actions (such as turning on or off a device) that you requested during the maintenance occurring quickly. We are sorry for any difficulty that may cause.

I like how this is being advertised as maintenance. Sorry, that doesn’t pass the sniff test! This is an outage and has nothing to do with maintenance. Maintenance is planned and people are notified before hand.

See, the problem here isn’t just a matter of the inconvenience of things just not working temporarily. Some of us have lots of devices, often tied into other services such as Alexa, etc. This can cause all these multiple and/or delayed notifications and announcements to go off in the middle of the night which disturbs sleep. I thought it was suggested when this happened recently that there should be advanced planning and notification when there’s going to be whatever maintenance is going on. How often do these things need maintenance anyway? I for one have many brands of smart devices and have since they started and I can’t think of any others that have these sort of maintenance issues.

Please chill and bear with wyze team, wyze devices has been doing amazing service to all us without breaking our banks, I strongly believe it is more like a service to the community than just be a profitable company, so the least we can do now is to cooperate

LOL - If you truly believe any ā€œfor profitā€ company exists for any reason other than to make money, you have much to learn about business. At least they are trying right? Maybe WYZE will hand out participation trophies since many that bought their products have lost countless hours of their valuable time trying to get those products to work as advertised?

Then there are those of us that have recently recommended WYZE products to friends and family. WYZE sure isn’t making those folks look wise these days. Yes, it is what it is. With that said, please do not ask me to like it or for my cooperation while the company inflicts pain.

It is now 6am PDT. Where is the update from WYZE in this thread?

Everything seems to be working correctly for me now. WCO is showing offline still but that just appears to be an incorrect status issue and it still functions correctly.

EDIT: power cycling the base and waiting a few minutes before triggering the outdoor cam seems to have fixed the incorrect offline status.

In my case in the Pacific NW, the failure to execute Rules began at about 15:55 PDT, not 18:30 PDT, and it affected Sense and Plug devices associated with a Trigger. Some Plugs remained in the ON state (blue LED ON) while others remained in the OFF state (blue LED OFF), but all Plugs were always listed in the APP as ON no matter what their actual state. The problem seems abated sometime overnight but this was a mess that should not have happened.

Actually I’ve found some of the Bank sites had an outage. Lets start a conspiracy thread. . .

Any way I can get my Wyze sense sensors back online? They are all showing offline for some reason

I pulled my bridge out of the back of a cam a few hours ago, waited 10 seconds, stuck the bridge back into the back of the cam and the associated sensors came back up within a minute. Did the same for my other bridges and they’re all back to normal.

@Seapup that worked for me too, thanks for the hint. Cycling power on the bridge’s camera did not work, but pulling the bridge out with camera ā€œliveā€ did work and allowed me to re-add sensors I’d deleted early on during my attempt to fix things.

Glad it’s working and happy to be of help. :+1:

BTW - I’m back up and running like I was prior to the unannounced ā€œmaintenanceā€. I hope things have been working for everyone else as well.

I’m keeping my fingers crossed that we can go at least a full month without an event such as the one we just went through last night.

What ever happened to the developer company testing their product/software instead of using buyers as their testers?

Strong agree with Known1 and frown at the absurd comment by kamalkanturs. When you purchase something from some entity, it should work as advertised. Nothing that Wyze has produced - hardware and software - has ever worked correctly. I also take offence that a lot of people on this forum think we should all be ā€˜geeks’. If you want to continue as testers for Wyze, let them send you, not me, the product for free! Happy to pay for fully functional, working and stable product. I pay now, but don’t get any of these.

@doylebob68 I’m an alpha and beta tester and we have been testing sensor issues for several months now to improve the experience so it’s not uncommon to roll back to prior firmware when a problem arises.

So true! I didn’t realize that becoming an early backer for the WCO meant signing up as a gamma tester. With that said, I have high hopes that this last round will bring some much needed stability for the month of September.

ā€œexpect this to be resolved by 5 AM PTā€. That sounds like chaotic desperation. Wyze has turned into such a mess.

Jason, the question for me is not so much when it will be back up but rather what caused it to go down in the first place, I’m sure the Amazon maintenance has been completed by now
