Question - looking into some Alexa connected smart door locks.
I have two 1bd/1ba huts (like apartments for guests). If I put a Wyze lock bolt on and it goes dead or malfunctions where I can’t open the door, how do I get in without breaking window or door?
I think the ultimate solution and it’s out there but way too expensive. 1. Needs to take care of issue above - I have scene some with a key as a backup (one that can be rekeyed by owner vs locksmith), put a camera on it (vs a separate one link door bell cam (this would be for homes that don’t have a door bell (like many cabins), put a camera on it, keypad, a yubi key type device and/or fingerprint scanner and solar panel to help on battery life, all integrated with smart home networks like Alexa.
I have the Beta on my LockBolt and at 10pm, the LockBolt Locked itself as I wanted it to from day one. Then anytime between selected hours the lock will automatically lock after about 15 seconds.
If you are interested in testing the Beta FW for the LockBolt, all you need to do is Start the App, go to Account then About. Select Beta Program.
In that area you agree or continue and then edit at the top right and select LockBolt or other devices you want Beta Firmware for. Then Save at the bottom. You should then be able to get the Firmware.
If this does not work, then you can join the Beta Program by going here:
Awesome, I’m glad this feature will finally work properly.
Also damn them for integrating awesome features into their own ecosystem of devices - so basically now if you buy their doorbell you can make the lock bolt into a more or less smart doorlock (accessible remotely)…
I have a Nest Doorbell and love how good it is at detecting and categorizing events, and I like it integrating directly to my google smart speakers and screens. But this feature is tempting…
You can now add a direct unlocking button to the Doorbell Pro livestream. Tapping the icon will remotely unlock your Lock Bolt (we send a WiFi command to your Doorbell Pro, which sends a Bluetooth command to your Lock Bolt)
Currently it does not remotely lock because this is the first step we need to test before adding other functions. If this goes well, it will help us consider building out additional remote capabilities for Lock Bolt.
For Lock Bolt we also removed the manual trigger required after resuming auto-lock hours.
This is great! I installed and tested it and it is working great to unlock! I look forward to you adding a “Lock” in the future, and possibly consider adding notifications and/or rules for the lock bolt now that it can connect to the VDBPro Chime.
All my three Lock Bolts updated to a new firmware and the manual trigger for resuming autolock hours works perfectly.
But I have three locks and we need a hub – the same hub you are now building in Wyse Doorbel Pro.
Wyze Lock Bolt will quickly rise to the top of the best smart locks.
Please consider the hub.
Thanks!
Just out of curiosity, does the chime send the command directly to the lock, or does it send a command to the doorbell pro and then the doorbell pro sends it to the lock?
Also, are there any plans of using this system for other Bluetooth only devices such as scales, floor lamp, etc?
Is there any plans to sell the chime on its own for this functionality if you don’t have a doorbell pro?
Question - the new Wyze Cam OG has bluetooth built in - any chance we can have that one lock/unlock the Wyze Lock Bolt? Cuz I’m kinda happy with my existing doorbell…
I’ve asked this before. I tried to use a wyze doorbell but could not get it to work as no transformer in the developing country I was trying to install it in. So I had the chime, and I wanted to use it for other fun things, but there apparently is no way to use it without pairing it to a doorbell that I could find or researched.
However, this thread is for wyze lock bolt, which i do not own, and the desire to lock it on a schedule.
I can see that for my Wyze Lock (silver device and wifi connected) that you can create a rule, with a schedule, and select the lock, and lock it (or unlock it). So this is supported on the other lock - just not the lock bolt (black device I do not own). I don’t know if this is in place.
