Wyze Lock battery level doesn't update when batteries changed

I performed the reset, which at least allowed me to recalibrate the lock during the setup process. However, the battery reading continues to show 16% although new Energizer Max alkaline batteries are installed.

Has anyone attempted to delete their Wyze account then reestablish it? I’m very reluctant to take this step based on unsatisfactory results using this method with other services.

Don’t know about the cache, yet, but have learned that Wyze recommends against using rechargeable batteries AND that some rechargers only charge to 1.2 volts when Wyze wants 1.5. Changing to alkaline Duracells from Costco (and Duracell makes the Costco house-brand batteries) seems to have helped.

I called support on 11/6/23 and walked through all the test steps, the person decided to give me a gift card for what I paid for the lock + gateway + keypad.

So … do I buy another set and this same problem may come back???

Same issues with my lock installed less than a year ago. None of the fixes work. Wyze seems to assume an advanced knowledge of techno-jargon and fixes to use their products.

I had issues with the Wyze thermostat and ultimately gave up and replaced it with a reliable product,

After being a loyal Wyze user for years, I am about done.

I officially hate this lock! The previous way of fixing an issue worked once but now back to the lock not working.

More so, now I have random times it locks when I close the door.

I write this hoping no one falls for Wyze’s tactics of selling products which have no updates for years and you get stuck with a horrible experience. I will not be buying anymore Wyze products until they fix all the issues in the lock

This may have already been mentioned, but in case it hasn’t, what I did this last time after changing the batteries that were at 14% is first I closed the app out by first swiping it closed in the multitask menu. I then went to the app settings in the Android app menu and hit force close and then went to “storage and cache”. I cleared the cache from there. I then reopened the app and went to the same lock and the battery level has been reset. My other lock was at the correct level of 54% so it didn’t reset both. I’m using Harbor Freight Thunderbolt Edge batteries, the blue ones.

i am experiencing this issue currently, on both of my locks. the batteries were low so i changed them out for new alkaline duracell batteries. both of the locks show 0% and the battery status has not refreshed, even after a day.

i have tested the voltage of all 8 of my batteries with a multimeter – all read at 1.64-1.67V which is more than enough.

i have tried deleting and re-adding the locks in the app; deleting and re-adding the gateway in the app, multiple times. am i basically stuck with two expensive paperweights?

Just swapped out the wyze lock batteries with Duracell. All locks still show low battery level, so the issue still hasn’t been solved.

I saw that as well, I triggered the lock via the app, unlock then lock and the Battery level went to 100%

After three hours trying all suggested which was - unplugging gateway for a few minutes, uninstall/reinstall both gateway and lock, two sets of fresh energizer non rechargeables - this is what worked for me! iPhone - check Wyze app settings and make sure background refresh is ON - mine was low power mode so was off. As soon as I got out of low power mode and refresh was on - calibrated just fine! Hope this helps someone

That is a great find. I never have the issue as I set my App Battery usage to unrestricted. This is needed for the App and Wyze devices to be timely with notifications, settings, etc.

At least that is what I found.

I have also seen the battery issue but my real problem is that my lock just intermittently stops working. I press the lock button on the keypad and it just flashes red.

Other times the lock does weird things like locking as soon as I open the door. If I don’t notice it then it slams against my door frame when I close the door. Other times the app will tell me I need to calibrate the lock even though I just did it a few days earlier.

I am going to try to unplug the gateway and reinstall everything fresh. I already tried a new kaypad and that didn’t help.

I had this issue but just figured it out. Unplug the Wyze gateway and turn Bluetooth off on your device. Plug gateway back on then turn Bluetooth back on when gateway connects and battery level will be reset.

I think the problem may be the battery chargers. I have both Panasonic and Samsung chargers and neither claims to charge to 1.5 volts. I finally broke down and bought a lot of Duracell (or Costco, because D makes the batteries they sell under their brand) alkaline and haven’t had that problem since. Would be nice if Wyze wasn’t so fastidious about voltage…

App reports battery low, even with new batteries. Used batter tester which say
batteries are all good. Noticed some looseness when installing the batteries.
Used a tweezer to pull the spring, so it connects/pressures the batteries better.
Unit closed the lock, and beeped. Then I manually opened and closed the lock.
The app reported correct status, and battery is 97% now.

Then I did the calibration, successfully.
