Wyze has been on a wild streak of customer alienation this year.
My motivations for promotional products are set to off; and I double checked with ChatGPT that I shouldn’t have gotten the push notificationI teceived today. Here is the response:

And your Wyze screen clearly shows Push Notifications → Promotional → News & Updates OFF. Wyze’s own documentation describes push notifications as including both device alerts and promotional notifications, and that promotional setting is intended to control the latter.”
I already ditched my Wyze cameras earlier this year when they bricked the SD card writing without subscription. Guess I’ll have to replace the last two Wyze products I hadn’t yet gotten around to: just two plugs.
I will report to the team that you are getting marketing notifications when you have them set to off, can you share what app version you are on?
As for bricking microSD card writing without a subscription, we have not ‘bricked’ that, there are a few separate issues we are looking into regarding microSD card recording on certain devices.
I am also experiencing this disappointing issue with advertisement notifications suddenly begin appear. I have the “Push Notifications” setting turned off as well as the “In-app Notifications” setting turned off.

Changing to a competitor’s cameras will be a very easy task for me. Although that won’t greatly impact Wyze, financially, Ceasing to recommend Wyze cameras will.
It is absurd to abuse your users’ clearly configured preferences.
Yes, I am seeing more people bringing this up. I assure you it is a bug and was not done intentionally, We are trying to narrow down the issue now.

Unfortunately, I have just received another advertisement push notification titled “Flying off the shelves”.
This is very disappointing to continue to see. I think the upcoming sales from Reolink will be finding my business.
I’m getting push notifications for promotions even though I have all notifications turned off. This isn’t the first time either. This isn’t an accident, we’re not dumb.

When you say push notifications I just want to clarify, are we talking about in-app pop-ups? If so I will take this to the team and make sure they know.
