📚 Wyze Glossary

Asked again today and got largely the same response, then followed up:

I guess it did say to “Ask anything…”. I asked, “Where did I leave my car keys?”

If you’re like most folk these days, you probably don’t have car keys proper – which it probably pointed out and then said something like ‘how should I know’ though politely.

Also it told me they may not be steam engines, still an open question, I guess, and plural…

I wonder what would be a good nuther word to define…

@bryonhu must have a good’un in him, he’s competitive an expert and still almost 6’2"

Might be hard to compose though with one foot out the door (Reolink!) :winking_face_with_tongue:

5’11" these days bad disks and osteoporosis has left their marks of time on this old body :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

Both feet nearly out the door on Wyze cams, they are now just being used as “Toy Cams” for watching the livestock and pets…

Reolink’s are my Security Cameras

I have a single physical key (so maybe I misphrased the question, and I already knew the answer anyway), and the Wyze didn’t comment on that. I don’t recall the exact response it gave me before, but it’s giving me something slightly different (albeit with a similar sentiment) today:

I guess I’m unlike most folk. :man_shrugging:

Your mentions of John Henry remind me of a record from my childhood:

I’m not sure what would be good candidate words to add to the list.

2025-07-30T18:02:13Z Edit: Maybe “wired” and “wireless” would be good, since Wyze apparently considers their battery-powered cameras to be “wireless” and their AC-powered cameras to be “wired”, though all of the cameras communicate wirelessly. :man_shrugging:

Well, I hope you always keep at least a pinky toe in the forum, you’re good to have around!

Me, too. Never had a fob.

Good song! Lively! Thanks for adding!

That’s one reason why…

Yes I will probably stick around, gotta keep Davey happy

Besides I have that V3 with the V2 lens on the weather torture tree just to prove Wyze switched to a poorly sealed lens assembly in the V3’s and all subsequent models. The lens fogging issue was the nail in the coffin for Wyze with me.

So far no issues with the V2 lens

Edit: The Weather Torture Tree for reference

Do you know if Wyze used the same poor lens seal for the floodlights V2/pro? I normally mount my cameras under the eaves, but for this one floodlight, I have no choice.

If that model came out after the V3 was introduced then yes it has the poorly sealed lens.

Floodlight pro definitely has issue as seen by this post:

It’s a shame that Wyze just ignores this issue otherwise I may not have lost faith in Wyze…

I like to imagine that you have a shingle hanging askew on said outdoor laboratory with that name scrawled on it and a similar shingle for your FrankenCam. :man_zombie:

Trying to remain on topic, I wonder how useful it would be to define something like Smart Vision, which—like Cam Protect—seems to be a legacy item. (I’ve never used either.)

Maybe somethink, like:

Legacy term. Not to be confused with x (a current term)

?

Maybe, though I’m the wrong person to ask, as I don’t have as much history with these things as many other community members do. I guess the thing I really wonder about with a topic like this is how to maintain organization, because it’s not like an automatically indexing topic or wiki post (though Discourse apparently can offer the latter). It would be nice to have an authoritative source for defining terms within the ecosystem, and I generally try to adhere to Wyze’s capitalization for things and refer to relevant Help Center articles when I can, though that’s not an infallible site. :man_shrugging:

Seems to me it’s bound to be inefficient and eccentric. Oh well. :man_shrugging:

How accurate is my memory of that quote? ‘Fairly accurate’. Maybe.

One of these?

That’s what came up in my search, though I’m not quite sure either describes “being poorly subscribed”.

Also, I feel like I can identify with this:

Probably the wrong word.

“Subscribed” - “signed-on and active in” - the collaborative project?
