Hello,
After a heavy rain, I have 2 Floodlight Pro cams that go blurry and stay this way for a long time (days). Has anyone else experienced this? Is there an easy fix or are my cameras now broken?
Any advice/guidance/ideas are welcome.
Thanks.
Yes, Wyze uses low quality lens assemblies that the glue breaks down over time and eventually fails, remarkably just beyond the warranty (Go Figure)
They have used this lens ever since the V3 and know of the issue. But still use this low quality lens in ALL their products going forward from V3.
This and poor software and firmware releases with bugs all the time prompted me to buy better brand cameras.
I will use the Wyze cams that still work because they are in a barn not exposed to elements. Or direct sunlight which accelerates the glue breakdown.
Won’t waste ANY money on Wyze Garbage any more.
I have had over 20 cams lens failures, some I replaced the lens assembly with and placed back in use.
Wyze is well aware of the lens issues but too shady to fix it, obviously they sell more cams if they get replaced.
Reolink or Eufy are much better cameras, I like Reolink’s myself though. Both these brands don’t hobble the camera like Wyze does if you don’t have a subscription.
EDIT: And to further prove that Wyze went to crappy lenses after V2 I put a V2 lens in a V3 that had lens fog.
So far no issues with a V2 lens in a V3 in direct sunlight and elements. Wyze just makes disposable cams now and they are not designed to last too far beyond warranty if used outside.
this cam was released in may of 2023. I have had one since then in an area that does get direct impact from weather and sunlight, im yet to run into this on either of mine that are couple of years old.
can you show us a picture of your set up? I am wondering if maybe the drain hole is blocked.
*I have 4 Wyze Floodlight Pro’s and they all are failing with the same frigging issue you mentioned after a rain. The fog is not on the outside of the lens I checked that, it is under the lens and unfixable. Another twist is the infamous stuck red light lock up! Once occurs power cycling or pushing the reset button is useless.
They know about this but keep it a secret from us and are very quick to say “You are out of warranty”, have a nice day! So sad because if these functioned they would be a greater company. Customers are losing millions of dollars with no recourse. Maybe a class action lawsuit would motivate Wyze?* Are you listening Wyze? Anyone of us customers can initiate a lawsuit…
I believe it is a known design flaw with the speaker holes on the front whereby rain can easily get pushed in with wind. Product developers need reprimanded… Also the field testers failed their company…
The drainage was actively tested when this was being developed, I say this as someone who spoke to the product manager for this device at Wyze headquarters in Seattle at length. ( I then beat many people at ping pong )
this Shouldn’t be the cause of the issue, When this first developed was it immediately after you put it up or did it take some time to develop?
Where is the drainage hole? Is it something I can unclog if that is the issue? After a few days of sunshine, the lens clears up (mostly), but while it’s blurry the camera is useless.
Since this seems to be a known issue that isn’t being addressed, I’m forced to look elsewhere for more reliable outdoor cams.
If the lens fogs up it has lost its seal, not repairable.
There is NO drainage hole for the lens.
If the lens is compromised the only fix is replacement of the lens, or replacement of camera.
Replace with Other Brands than Wyze recommended as Wyze refuses to fix this issue with the lenses since V3 was introduced. They just keep using same low quality adhesive in the lenses…
Apparently UV resistant glue breaks their budget for camera production
