I’ve been using Wyze Cams for years, mostly Wyze Cam V3s. Recently I tried the Wyze Cam V4, and have had 2 fail in only 1.5 years, whereas I have V3s that have lasted over 5 years.
Mine is at about a year, so far no issues. How did they fail? How are they mounted? Is there drip loop in the power cord at the back of the camera to help prevent water infiltration? What troubleshooting have you done (i.e. different power adapter, factory reset, etc)? Need more info.
Mine is not waterproof anymore, there is fog on the lens when it’s raining. Never had this kind of problem with the cam v3.
Fog on the lens doesn’t mean it isn’t waterproof?
Fog inside the lens, yes, that was actually apparently a semi-common issue with the v3, but doesn’t seem to be an issue with the v4.
Are you able to wipe it off when it happens? If so it may be a placement (or maybe heat) issue. If it can’t be wiped off, I’d request a warranty swap (if still under warranty) as obviously it should not be doing that.
Water in the lens started with the V3 and continued forward on models since, it’s a design that allows the camera lens to fail just out of warranty. Designed failure so you keep replacing them and Wyze profits instead of fixing.
Stuck a V2 lens in a V3 that failed with lens moisture, and so far it’s lasted longer than most V3’s exposed to the elements.
Wyze sells garbage
don’t listen to the Wyze defender tell you different, look at all the posts about water in lens
I have three V4 cams outdoors exposed to direct sun, fog and rain. This V4 sits 4 inches off the ground exposed to everything and has even been assaulted by the Raccoon gang. It’s been in the same place since March 29, 2024 . None of my cams have foggy lens issues.![]()
Which proves nothing.
It proves my V4 cams are just fine and yours aren’t.

And you live in an area that rarely gets too cold or hot and never snows….
You know what my cameras that are subjected to as far as weather and the Forrest Critter Vandals ![]()

Wyze cams with any lens V3 and up Die Here ![]()
The modified V3 with a V2 lens installed has outlasted all other V3 lensed cameras here.
Wyze doesn’t make cameras really rated for Real Outdoor situations.
My Cam v4s are working fine completely exposed outdoors in temps from below 0F to 100F+, ice, snow, hail, rain, direct sun. In fact, all of my cam models are working fine. Can’t speak for doorbell cams, doorbell is old school.
I think the big key is the sun that hits the lens at some point in the day breaks down the adhesive in the lens assembly.
Every one that has failed gets small bubble like degradation in the adhesive you can see around the lens when examined closely.
Whatever adhesive previously used by the OEM that built the V2’s was superior to whatever adhesive the new OEM that builds current cameras for Wyze uses.
And Wyze seems unable to change this whether by design or inability to force the OEM manufacturer that builds the Cameras for Wyze.
In my situation I chose to upgrade to quality cameras with extra lens protection such as what SOME of the Reolink’s offer. And those models are the ones that I bought.
Rather than continuing to keep replacing the Wyze cams every year or two, plus no need for a subscription the overall cost is much less over time compared to Wyze![]()
Reolink’s Ecosystem is stable and in over 2 years I have only seen 1 app update and 2 camera updates which had no issues afterwards…
Wyze for me turned out to be a hassle rather than a convenience in my experience because the cameras required more oversight. Did the SD cards randomly quit recording, why has this update messed up my system, troubleshooting issues, etc…. All became something that seems to plague Wyze and the updates which is not what I want in a security camera ecosystem.
For me now, Wyze cams are “Toy” entry level cameras, which now get used in non-security locations that you may want to view but don’t depend on for actual security.
My 2 oldest v4 cams are facing SW so they’re in direct sun all day except when cloudy. They’ve been running for 2 years. Of course, anyone claiming no failures has no bearing on anyone claiming otherwise. Seals do deteriorate over time and environmental factors definitely accelerate the issue.
Did you and Forest Kitty get your 1099’s from Reolink yet?

Somehow I didn’t get them, but got Dave27’s from Wyze ![]()
He must of got mine from Reolink ![]()
If anyone is thinking of getting more Cam v3 cameras, I saw this deal on Amazon for a Refurb v3.
I have been watching the v3 prices to get a extra one to keep on my shelf.
Do you have a tutorial on how to disassemble the lens ?
