Wyze Floodlight constantly going offline

I was about to ask how many bars there are in the signal, then I see this; Wyze changed things again. It used to show bars, and if you clicked on them, you see the dB reading.

I reconnected them less than an hour ago and now they’re disconnected again.

My little wyze v2, v3 or V4 cameras that are quarter of the price never disconnect

Thanks for the inputs. Hopefully we can sort something out and you can get a much more robust camera experience.

Regarding Cam plus: Some folks in other forum entries do mention that cameras sometimes stop being functional when the subscription expires. It should not be the case but that is something to keep in mind.

Since you are using 2.4GHz, have you tried switching to 5GHz if possible? These cameras were some of the first ones to have higher resolution and the 2.4GHz radios inside don’t seem to like that as much. In my case, I switched from 2.4GHz to 5GHz and that did improve the experience a bit. Unfortunately to switch to 5GHz you will have to reset your cameras and re-run initial setup.

Another thing to try is the following. You will need your phone to do some testing for WiFi signal integrity. If at all possible and safe, place your phone next to the camera and notice how many WiFi bars your phone sees. Compare that to how many bars the Cam app sees. Also, if you can, install a WiFi analyzer app in your phone (I have android, and I use WIFIanalyzer app) and check for interference from other nearby radios. Ideally your camera is connected to your WiFi router under a clean radio environment, but it is very likely other nearby radios are also present and that may cause disconnects. See below snapshots from my Radio environment. You want your WiFi to be 20dBm or more above all the rest.

Let me know what you see and if any of the pointers work.

I have the same issue with on of my 4 Cameras going off-line.
I don’t knw what the root cause is, but I know what is isn’t.

-It is not the Hardware

  • It is not the WIFI

Initially I would simply power on and off. But I notices that although the camera was reporting Offline, the camera’s sensors and in the case of the Wyze Cam Pan v3 was tracking targets and panning correctly.

I have determinized that the best way to get the systems back online is not to reset the camera, but the Service. This appear when thing breakdown.

My Setup:
2 **Wyze Cam Floodlight v2
1 Wyze Cam OG
1 Wyze Cam Pan v3

I have confirmed that the WIFI signal strength is strong
I have confirmed that each unit is receiving constant uninterrupted power

I have also been experiencing the same issue with my floodlight pro, which has been quite frustrating. I doubt its power or internet problems on my end. However, I have confirmed that this is not the case through basic troubleshooting steps, anticipating that Wyze would suggest these first.

Having owned, used, and tested numerous Wyze products for several years, it appears that the offline issues have consistently originated from their app, firmware or cloud servers. My device has recently come back online and is functioning normally, and I hope this continues. It is certainly concerning when a device used for security purposes experiences such unreliability. I primarily use mine with an SD card, and one would expect it to operate without these problems. Again, I suspect the issues may lie with the Wyze app, firmware, and their cloud infrastructure.

Furthermore, I recently purchased a Wyze plug, which is exhibiting similar behavior, frequently showing as offline before reconnecting. Interestingly my old plug located just a few feet away operates without issue. Additionally, my Wyze Doorbell Pro loses power in extremely cold weather, despite being hardwired, and struggles to maintain its battery charge.

I sincerely hope that these connectivity issues can be resolved before investing more $$ in Wyze.

Mine started on both cams after the update.

How and where do you create that rule?
