Wyze Duo Cam Pan Questions

I am thinking of replacing one of my Cam Pan V3s with Duo Cam. I cannot seem to locate some relevant pictures.

  • Is the mounting hole on the camera the identical?
  • Is the power connector socket on the Duo Cam (takes a right angle plug) the same?

Appreciate any info.

Based on the unboxing video, I don’t think so, but that’s a good question. (I don’t actually have this model.)

No. Check the “Tech specs” section on the product page:

Cable: 6-Foot Flat Type-C to USB-A

Cam Pan v3 uses the L-shaped Micro-B male connector at the camera end.

They also use different power adapters:

I feel your disappointment with the Cam Pan v3 microSD recording issue and still want to see that solved.

I received and installed my Duo Cam Pan yesterday. After you remove the bottom platform, it appears to have the same 1/4” mounting hole as the Cam Pan v3, so I had no issue attaching it to my existing exterior (3rd party) mount. It felt a little tight screwing on, but went on okay without being cross threaded or anything.

The power connection is different, and has a male-to-female USB-C pigtail permanently attached to the camera, with a weatherproof sleeve that attaches to the power cord going to the AC adaptor. I’m going to return the exterior weatherproof wiring kit, as I misunderstood that I may have needed it. My AC adaptor connects inside the garage, and the cable is routed through a grommeted hole in the wall to the camera outside.

As far as the camera itself, I’m disappointed in that the event detection settings appear to apply globally (and not separately) to the fixed and pan cameras. On the plus side, each camera can have it’s own detection zones.

Also, unfortunately, and recording of a clip in the app (from live or SD video), or downloaded event video, cannot be of just one of the cameras. You get a composite video image with the scenes of both cameras stacked on top of each other vertically. I would prefer the ability for separate video streams from each camera. Maybe when RTSP comes to this device (if), that will be possible.

So that hinged piece (that’s how it looks to me in pictures I’ve seen) is attached with a ¼″-20 screw like the bases of most Wyze Cams? That seems good to know. Thanks for sharing that. :+1:

That’s what I would’ve expected based on what I read on its product page and on the way Cam Pan v4 is cabled.

I believe so. The screw for my existing mount did initially feel a little tight, but did screw on without binding. I actually did unscrew it and examine it to make sure there was no cross threading. But as always, for anyone else reading this, YMMV.
