Wyze cam v4 playback recordings without subscription

Hi is it still possible to play back motion detected recordings without a subscription if you have an SD card? I have a card installed and I click events on the bottom, select the event, and press the purple play button, but when I do so, a window pops up to choose a subscription plan. Am I doing something wrong or is this no longer a thing? I’ve tried to find some how to videos but they’re all over a year old so I don’t know if the info is up to date. Thanks

It is a common point of confusion. The purple play button is for the cloud recording, which you don’t have, thus you’re given a prompt to subscribe.

Below that there is an “SD Card” icon, tap that and it will play the event video from the card.

You can also go into the cam live view, hit the SD card button, and navigate around in there, tapping specific events or just going wherever you want on the timeline. There are forward and back buttons overlaid on the video (if you tap the video) that skip between events, and a 30 second skip forward/back etc too.

Hmm, I have done as you said but now instead of playing the clip, which should be five minutes long, there is text over it that says “No video available at this time”. Is there something else i need to do? Thanks for the info btw.

It could be an issue with the card, was the card formatted in a PC before putting in the cam (I prefer to use the formatter from sdcard.org but usually isn’t required)? Are there any recordings on the card at all?

This doesn’t work. I’ve never had a subscription and have only played recordings from the SD card and now it’s states, “there are no recordings” when trying to play an event. I’ll probably buy another system. Everyone wants a subscription.

You don’t need a subscription to view SD card recordings, period.

Your card probably wore out.

:woman_facepalming: New card so…? I’ve reset, formatted, disconnected and reconnect. It. Doesn’t. Work. And it records when i press the record button.

Record button records to your phone, not the SD card.

Try a different power supply, SD card issues can be one of the signs that it is dying.

If not, try factory resetting the cam and also a “reset services”. If that doesn’t work, the SD card slot may be dead.

Are you sure the card you got is genuine? Came from a reputable seller and is a known brand name?

Aahhh, record button makes sense. The card is from a reputable company, but the power source makes sense. I recently had a power issue, maybe the source was affected. I’ll give it a shot. My neighbor also has the same camera, I’m going to see if his is recording. Thanks!

Any USB adapter that is 1000mA or higher will work (old phone charger, etc). Heck 750ma will probably do it but no sense in risking it not being enough. The v4 usually uses under 500ma but if you use the LEDs and stuff it can go higher.

How long is your cable, is it the stock 6 footer? Long cables can cause issues too.

Does this card work in a PC, can you fill it to capacity with files (or test it with something like H2Testw)? There are so many fake cards out there, you can even end up with one “shipped from and sold by” amazon when they comingle and send you one from a 3rd party (you’d know because it would have a white sticker with barcode on it).

But if you recently had power issues, yeah I’d definitely try a different adapter. Unfortunately the adapter doesn’t always stop power issues from reaching the cam itself, so it is possible something burned out in the cam too.
