3 month old camera mounted outdoors and memory card failed. I pull out the card and it’s been physically damaged by the elements. I’ve never had this occur on any of my cameras before.
I have not, but I’d be curious about the card and its provenance. Regardless, if the Cam v4 is less than a year old and was purchase directly from Wyze or an authorized retailer, then I’d likely open a Support ticket for this.
There look to be scratches all over the card. Did it seem to go in hard? The elements should not have stripped off the gold plating, that looks like physical damage.
This V4 has been sitting 4.5 inches above the ground exposed to all the elements for at least one year and It has had a 256GB Samsung Pro Endurance Micro SD card in it the entire time recording continuous. Is your camera mounted upside down?
I’ve had the occasional micro SD slot that was not lined up correctly with the case (not on Wyze cams yet but other stuff) and the card would drag along the plastic case when going in/out. But it was definitely noticeable.
I suppose the marks around the card could be some sort of corrosion coming from inside the card but they don’t look like it, and the gold plating on those pins would have to be really poor to come off like that from just moisture/heat/etc. Is it a decent card or something generic?
Also echo @Antonius’s question about mounting, the only one I’ve ever mounted upside down was a Panv3 and it didn’t end well for the cam (yet the microSD card was unscathed).
