Wyze Cam V3 Stuck On Ready To Connect (Won't Scan QR Code)

I had to reboot our router, and after it came back online, my Wyze Cam v3 failed to reconnect to Wi-Fi. After multiple failed attempts to get it to reconnect, I decided the easiest route would be to remove it from the Wyze app and set it up again from scratch. However, now it’s stuck on “Ready to connect” and refuses to scan the QR code at all.

Here’s what I know for sure:

  • The Wi-Fi network is 2.4GHz only—there’s no chance it’s trying to use a 5GHz connection.
  • My phone is connected to the exact same 2.4GHz network.
  • The camera lens and my phone screen are clean (no smudges, dust, or protective film).
  • I’ve placed the camera directly on my phone screen and tried multiple angles, distances, brightness levels, and environments.
  • No matter what I try, the camera just sits at “Ready to connect” and never registers the QR code.

I’ve also tried the usual reset step—holding the setup button for 15 to 20 seconds—but that just resets it back to “Ready to connect” without making any difference.

At this point, I’m out of ideas. What else can I try?

The camera can’t see the entire QR code. Look at the screen to verify the entire code is visible. Try moving the camera slowly away from the screen. If all else fails others have printed the code to paper and used that.

Have you tried scanning a screenshot of the QR code, a scan of the resulting picture from your phone gallery or physically printing the code and then scanning the printed code? All 3 have worked for me as last resort steps.

I also have one camera like that… won’t scan…
I got tired of it and just replaced it!
Whatever I do won’t scan…
I considered it done & broken…

Did you at least try for a warranty replacement or was that the replaced cam or was it beyond the timeline? I got a warranty replacement from Wyze when I encountered this very same issue.

I despise the “scan QR code”!!!
Glad some are now just skipping that part :+1:

There is good and bad with that method being a screen inside the camera setup. Agree and like the bluetooth setup connection in the recent models. As a backup, I have a few Blink cams and the QR code is printed on the back and outside of the cams and a very small/tiny image. Code scans instantly and then the network connection. Procedure seems simpler than Wyze.
