Wyze Cam v3 recording sound when sound recording is turned off

I just stumbled upon this this morning when viewing an event and inadvertently turned on the volume. It appears that all my Wyze cam v3’s are recording sound when they all have “Record Sound” under “Advanced Settings” disabled. I’m not sure when this started as I don’t normally have sound unmuted when viewing events. I thought maybe it was with the latest firmware released on Aug 11th, but checked some recordings prior to that and they also have audio.

This wouldn’t be a big problem except that I have all v3 cameras mounted inside looking outside, so don’t really need sound recorded. I have two Wyze cam v4’s and they are working correctly.

I’ve submitted log 2524266.

I would suggest opening a ticket with support and referencing that log ID - otherwise they will never see it.

You could try doing a “reset services” on one of the cams and see if that fixes anything (note you’ll need to re-set your detection/alert preferences after that if they’re not default).

Dave, I hear ya, but since this is occurring on all 4 of my Wyze cam v3’s I really feel it is a bug and isn’t that what submitting a log is supposed to be for? I have “reset services” on one of the cameras and it is still recording sound and I verified that “Record Sound” is verified. I even did the ol’ remove power for a few minutes and power back on with no difference. Basically, everything support would have me do.

The fact that it is happening on all 4 is what made me think it could be related to a bad synch of settings, but yes, it could be a bug. I don’t have any regular v3s so can’t confirm.

Submitting a log doesn’t do anything if you don’t open a ticket and give them the information to go with it. Otherwise it just goes into a black hole.
