Just a warning that the problem described in this post is still an issue:
I have a Wyze v3 cam with firmware 4.36.14.3497, and discovered the same thing happened to me.
I assured our house guests that the camera recording the front door was just there to keep an eye on people coming and going, and didn’t have audio enabled.
Imagine my surprise when I discovered that the cam was still recording sound!
Problem was resolved when support had me factory reset the device, remove and re-add it, then resync with “Reset Services” which fixed it.
So, now I get to go to my guests and let them know I didn’t tell them the truth, and that the camera was recording audio afterall. Illegal in my state.
The support folks I spoke to acted like this issue was new and never heard of before. So fair warning! Your wyze cam may have started ignoring your audio recording settings in the past few months, and if you care about such things, you should probably check on it.
