Just received my Wyze cam V3.
I was able to set it up and view stream when it prompted me to update firmware.
I followed screen prompt and waited for the came to restart. It restarted but never showed up on my Wyze app again.
It shows camera offline. no mater how many times I try to reconnect it, it will not connect.
I had no choice but to delete the came profile and tried to add it again as new device but this time it will never connect to wifi. Its stuck blinking blue and red.
anyone have any idea how i can get it working again?
First try a factory reset and then try re-adding it.
If that doesn’t work then it sounds like the firmware update was interrupted and you’ll need to use the SD card manual firmware recovery process (they list the instructions on their website).
Hold the button longer, probably 20-30 seconds, to get to factory reset. Ignore anything it does or says before that, keep holding.
There are ways to partition the SD card to 32GB and FAT32, but requires a bit of computer knowledge.
How long did you wait before doing anything? Some of the V3s require multiple firmware updates out of the box, so it may have been working on the second one when you unplugged or pushed buttons etc.
I was able to factory reset it i think but it didn’t work.
I also format the sd card to 32gb and moved the firmware folder to the root of sd card.
I pluged in the sd card and hold the setup button disregarding what it says and the light turn sold red. I let go of the setup button but after that I didn’t see purple light. it just go back to ready to connect.
I purchased the cam on ebay, it was factory sealed so it is brand new but I can’t return it and its a no return sale.
I haven’t done the recovery procedure on a v3 but some have mentioned the instructions are confusing, that you actually need a folder named the way they say and put the file in there, or something like that, may need to give it a couple tries.
There was an issue a while back with people who had very old firmware on their v3 cams (to maintain an old hack) trying to upgrade directly to the new version and it was causing issues and some had to do the manual recovery, so I think if you can figure out the process (folder/file/name/etc) you should be able to get the latest version on it and be good.
Make sure the SD card is formatted to 32GB and FAT32 (not exFAT).
You need to copy the BIN file contained in the folder to the root of the SD card. You may need a smaller partition, say 8gb, to make it work. Also make sure the file is named exactly as in the instructions for your specific camera.
If you’re using the same SD card I’d recommend first running it through SD Card Formatter (at sdcard.org) to restore it back to its new state (partitions, offset, etc). Quick format should be fine.
Then in the wyze app under the camera, go to the gear icon → advanced settings → record to microSD card on and set it to continuous (that may be the default, can’t recall). It will automatically loop when it gets full and will basically always be full and just remove the oldest files as needed.
