Hello guys, I’ve been having a conversation in another thread about my V.3 cameras have a purple screen and intermittent flickering in extremely low light situations but only after updating the default firmware. I’ve tested and this happens with cameras I purchased in Dec 22, March 23, Sep 24, and even a camera sent to me by Wyze directly to test. The issue does not happen before updating the default firmware (ending in 139). The issue started during firmware 4054 and has continued through all of the firmware updates since. But since the firmware 139 was discontinued recently, it’s forced everyone on that old working firmware to update to firmware with issues.
I’m sure I’m not the only one experiencing these issues but I don’t see a lot about the issue here on the forums. I’m guessing most people are using their cameras in more well lit areas and so it’s less noticeable. Try turning off your house lights one night and review your cameras in the morning to see if the same issue is happening. Through my testing, I’m convinced that is is most certainty a firmware issue with how the camera handles extremely low light situations. And instead of just turning on the night vision (what it should probably do) it keeps trying to adjust the image until it goes purple instead. I’m not sure what causes the flickering but it’s intermittent. You can view details of my testing over here. Forced firmware update, all my V.3 cameras stopped working - #71 by tacomaguy20
And for anyone else with the same issue that’s just been dealing with it (like keeping the night vision set to on permanently, which is what I started doing), I’d like to ask you to submit logs with pictures to Wyze to let them know that there are issues with how the firmware is processing low light situations.
