I see other posts similar to this. I never had a Wyze camera fail this quick. This is bad.
I’m definitely disappointed with it so far. I’m hoping that like others in the past, the bugs will et worked out eventually. My big concern is if it’s hardware related.
What issues are you having?
The camera went completely dead early this morning. It won’t even power up now. I tried different power supplies and cables, but it won’t wake up and nothing happens with the setup button either. It looks like Wyze is going to send a replacement. I did a support chat earlier today.
The camera had been working okay-ish for the past few weeks since I got it, but not as reliably as the previous models.
The main problem I was having was that I had do disable pan and scan or it would start lagging after panning. That’s not an issue if you just check the live feed occasionally, because when you first open it up, it’s real time, or within a second or so. For my use, I have a need to have the camera feed on wall mounted monitors (iPads) so when it would pan and start lagging by 20 seconds, the people I need to watch for morning and afternoon drop-off and pickup are already at the door or inside while the camera shows them still walking up our walkway 30-50 feet away.
Other issues were glitches in the feed or freezing. I would walk by the monitor and find it on a frozen still frame from maybe hours earlier and to fix it, I would have to leave the feed and go back in. That was happening at least once every day or two. The frozen frame would look perfectly normal, except the time wasn’t counting. Or the frozen frame was from daytime, and it was now well after dark, or vice-versa which how I caught it most times.
I’d rather it completely drop with the little reset symbol on the screen than look like the normal stream except for the clock. It was like in the movies where someone would insert a still frame or put a photo in front of a security camera so they could do whatever it is without being seen ![]()
Before the update my Cam Pan v4 went offline once or twice a day. Now it goes offline multiple times per day. I’ve been using Wyze cameras and products since 2020 and never have experienced issues like this.
Have you tried removing vehicles from smart tracking. ?
Yes.
I resubscribed to the premium service just to test this out. I put people and animals only, and yet vehicles continue to be tagged. it doesn’t seem to be triggering alerts any longer, but oddly enough the box of what was identified in the frame is around the car, not the person that was reported as detected. It’s very strange.
