Note: I have sd cards in all cams. The sd card settings are to record continuously. All cams are connected to a power outlet.
Bought two cam pan v3s recently, unaware that Wyze, in their infinite wisdom, had removed the playback button in the app for these cams. The old wyze pan cam I had in a window for outdoor monitoring finally gave up the ghost so I replaced it with one of the V3s, expecting to have the same functions available in the app. What possible reason would they have to disable such a useful feature?
Well, V3s don’t have the button so now I can only review what clips the cam has recorded. There is no way to review anything before a clip was captured.
This was a KEY feature for me and highly useful. I’ve mentioned in a previous post that I live in a neighbourhood where sketchy things happen with unfortunate regularity. In the past I’ve been asked to provide footage for theft of a neighbor’s property. As a woman living alone, being able to monitor what’s going on outside my front door is priority number ONE.
It’s too late to return these two cams so now I’m stuck. I don’t know which wyze cams omit the playback button in the app but I desperately need a cam with that playback feature. Anyone have any recommendations? I returned a V4 purchased with the V3s because it would never complete set up so I never found out if it had the button or not. Help, please! Thank you!
Can you attach a screen shot of what you are seeing?
If you are looking under the ever tab, you will see the image of the event and if you have cam plus, you can actually watch the event. However, to get to he SD Card, you simply tap on the SS card icon and it will take you to your local storage and depending on where you do it from, it will take you to the event you were at.
In the image below, you will see a live stream and under that a menu bar. The first icon takes you to the SD card events
As @spamoni noted, you’ll need to tap the SD Card icon in the control strip beneath the live view pane on the camera’s Live Stream screen. Wyze changed the user interface with newer camera models, so I believe anything prior to and including Cam v3 has the “old” UI, and releases since then (not sure about Cam v3 Pro) have the “new” UI. You won’t have the big green View Playback button or the horizontally-scrolling timeline with Cam Pan v3. Instead, you’ll need to hit the SD Card button to show the newer UI’s vertically-scrolling timeline, and there you should be able to see your events tagged (if enabled) as well as your continuous recording to microSD, which should be indicated by an uninterrupted vertical green stripe on the right side of the timeline pane.
If you decide to try another Cam v4, then the interface for that one should be very similar to that of Cam Pan v3.
You’re not alone in having difficulty with this. The “old” vs. “new” UI issue seems to be somewhat polarizing within the community. It’s definitely an adjustment if you’re accustomed to seeing other things with your older Cam Pans.
Thanks so much! This year has been so stressful, this latest Wyze adventure could have been done without. Appreciate everyone’s help and I agree about the polarizing effect. As if America needed more of that! I think I’m going to give a pass on the V4. Though I might get another V3 now I know how to get to the continuous footage.
