Any ideas why the red color is invading the image? This started about a year ago and has gotten progressively worse. Obviously, the camera needs to be replaced, but what is the cause so I might avoid entering a cycle?
I think that is the night vision/ir light filter cellophane. Someone mentioned that switching it on and off repeatedly might correct it, but you’re probably going to want to reach out to support for replacement.
I’ve tried cycling through the night vision options repeatedly to no avail. At this point the camera is out of warranty so there’s not much of a reason contact support. However, I’d really like to know the root cause of this phenomenon and if I’m expecting too much from a Wyze Cam Pan.
Oh I see. I don’t know if anything causes it, or if it’s a one off situation and just happens. I’ve got 2 pan cams that I’ve had for about 2 years and none are having those issues. They are only monitoring indoors, not out any windows or anything like that. Not sure if that helps, hopefully some others have better ideas/info than I do.
You can try moving a magnet past the side of the camera (sometime works on the V2 cam) to free the solenoid that moves the IR filter.
If you go to 16:30 thru 19:00 of this video you can see filter & operation.
Thank you. I’ll give that a try when I get near the camera again in about two weeks. Right now, I’m about 1800 miles away from it. It would be nice if the Pan were still 100% but I intend to secure a v3 to the top of a Wyze Cam Pan, Thus the v3 can be rotated, but not tilted. As long as there is some image on the Pan that can be used as a reference image, I should be good to go.
