Wyze Cam Outdoors don't recognize microSD 32gb chip in base station

I tried it out, When I put the cam plus on the cam it just removes the backup up to base and no SD in the base message because the Cam Plus will not back up to base. Second screen shot is after I put the CP back on the V3 and Before adding the CP Lite back to the camera. It again shows no SD in the base which there is, the cam just cant see it and the toggle to turn on will not turn on. Put the CP Lite on the WCO again and back to my starting point.

Can’t speak to that other than submit an app log to report bug to devs. I only addressed your need to temporarily remove CPL from a cam for testing.

On a different subject… some users here are not aware that exFAT is not currently supported for all cam types. Wyze has been slowly rolling this support out in firmware updates. exFAT support has not yet rolled out to WCO. For anyone else reading, check your card in a computer to determine format. If card is not currently FAT32 under Windows or MS-DOS (FAT) under macOS, you need to do a correct reformat for WCO. If you need to reformat an SD card under macOS, run Disk Utility against your card and specify MS-DOS (FAT) as the format. On a PC running Windows for cards 32GB or less, you can simply run the Windows reformatting tool, as the Windows default for 32GB or smaller cards is FAT32. If on a PC running Windows and card is larger than 32GB, you’ll need to run a 3rd party FAT32 formatting tool. I use Ridgecrop’s GUI version of their FAT32 formatter on cards from a PC. It only does FAT32. Leave “Allocation unit size” as is. Uncheck the “Quick Format” box. It will take some time to complete as this will perform a low-level FAT32 reformat, checking and fixing the integrity of your card. When complete, stick it directly in your WCO cam or base. Don’t reformat it anywhere else.

I just took the SD out of the base. I formatted the SD about 3 days ago, it is a 32GB SD in FAT 32 and it currently has .22GB/ 220 MB of data on it most of which are event thumb nail jpg files and a few videos. Must be a bug someplace.

I formatted the SD card in the WYZE base station using the format tool. Shouldn’t that format the card correctly? Yet, the camera still does not recognize the card in the base station.

I dont know if this will make any difference, power off Camera and the base put sd card back in Camera power back up and see if that works

No I didn’t. I formatted 2 different SD cards. It will show that it is in the base station correctly. Then hours later it says no SD card detected. I’ve tried everything.

On my app if I open a WCO to event recording it says no SD in the base. As I said, yesterday I had 220 MB worth of thumbnail .jpg photos. This morning it shows 230 MB. Ten MB is a lot of photos considering that each thumbnail is only 40-60 KB. Cams were busy recording critters last night.

I have done this many times with the same results. It works then it says no sd card detected. :man_shrugging:

Am not able to see the SD card in the base station.
When I go to the outdoor cam-advanced settings-micro sd card storage, we see cards for the outdoor cam and the base station.
What is odd is they have been installed for weeks and have just .11/.12 GB of used storage.
The Outdoor Cam does not offer the “View Playback” option when you have the cam up, so I’m not sure how to confirm that it is recording from the cam.

Tap Eject Micro SD card from the base, put it in a card reader or a PC with a card reader and see what is on it. There are probably a bunch of thumbnail photos of of events from the cam and maybe a few videos.

Thats correct On the cards it will only record to card when you do a time lapse videos and manually hit record,it was never designed to auto record to card that only works on V2,V3 and the 2 PTZ models

What is the purpose of the SD card in the outdoor cancers and the SD card on the base station if the base station SD card don’t record events also?

“IF” everything is working as designed with the WCO video events will be recorded on the base along with numerous thumbnail photos of events. BUT a WCO with cam plus will not back up videos to the base and a WCO with cam plus Lite should backup to the base but there are currently some issues with that in the iOS app,
The SD in the camera may be used for Time lapse recording, scheduled continuous recording (Not recommended) and scheduled event recording. I really don’t know if the videos are backed up to the base without Cam Plus Lite now??? I don’t use the back up to base because I am doing scheduled event recording to the SD in the cams, but I would like it to work like it did previously just because .:upside_down_face: This was the information before Cam Plus Lite was required to record 12 Sec videos, I don’t know if it is still true???

I have been having the Wyze Base not recognizing SD card for over a year now. I have replace the SD cards, formatted on a camera put back in base and No luck at all. Until yesterday. I was messing with my cameras and decided to use the can of air and blow it out. [Mod edit] it recognizes the SD card now. I do have other problems now like no 12 second video playback. Frustrating but hopefully I will get that corrected this evening.
Hope this helps
