Thanks very much for the workaround idea. I have added the bumper dots to two base stations and both are now operational after resetting firmware to 4.16.2.7. Bottom surface temp is 129 on one and 115 on the other, measured with an infrared thermometer. This still seems high to me but I have so far been unable to find the operating specs for the base station. The 129 degree station is connected via wifi, the 115 degree one is connected via ethernet cable.
Thanks Dog… Try tipping it over onto its “face” for about an hour then remeasure temp. If it is cooler than before, add dots on top of the existing dots.

Experiment done. After 1 hour in “face plant” orientation, station 1 went from 115 to 103 F. station 2 went from 130 to 112 F. I think I’ll leave them in that orientation. the antennae were adjusted to remain vertical and wifi connection remained solid. I tip my hat to you, sir. (Sorry for the pun, I couldn’t resist).
