Wyze Cam OG WYZECGS stuck in boot loop

Hi everyone,

I have an original Wyze Cam OG, model WYZECGS / hardware WYZECGSA / internal model GW_GC1, currently stuck in a continuous boot loop.

What I have already tried:

  • different USB cable
  • different power adapter
  • different outlet
  • factory reset
  • holding SETUP during power-on
  • FAT32 microSD

The camera does not complete boot or say “Ready to connect.” The red LED pulses roughly every 6 seconds and restarts continuously.

What is interesting is that the camera still accesses the microSD card. During testing it created folders such as Time_unknown_xx, a dated folder, and even created an .mp4 file, although the MP4 remained 0 bytes before the camera rebooted. So the device is clearly executing part of the firmware and mounting/writing to the SD card before crashing.

I also own a second identical Cam OG that works normally and is running firmware 1.0.98.

I found the old July 2024 forum discussion where Wyze staff mentioned Cam OG firmware 1.0.83 and gave instructions for installing a .bin file from a FAT32 microSD card.

I am therefore looking for anyone who still has:

  • the original Cam OG 1.0.83 manual firmware .bin
  • any verified SD-installable firmware for WYZECGS / GW_GC1
  • possibly versions 1.0.84 or 1.0.98
  • the exact filename, file size, hash, attachment link, or archived download URL

I am not looking for firmware for Cam v2/v3/v4, Pan, or the newer 2025 Cam OG revision. I am also not looking for a raw 16 MB flash dump.

If anyone here received the 1.0.83 file from Wyze staff in 2024, or still has a copy, I would really appreciate any help.

Mine was upgraded remotely by wyze back then, but hopefully someone here may still have the file.
