Wyze Cam Floodlight Pro - Released 5/30/2023

What is the maximum height for the Floodlight Pro? The floodlight we would replace is about 15ft above the ground. Is that too high?

I noticed that the schedule for ambient light works in sort of standard time and not in the DST that is now active.

This is observed when I set schedule in relation to sunset offsets.
Example: I set start of ambient as 10 mins after sunset.
Today sunset was 8:24, ambient light should have switched on at 8:34, but the light switched at 7:34.

I have not tested sunrise scheduling.

I am in EDT.

To fix a Time zone or DST discrepancy:

  • Open the device from the Home Tab,
  • Select the gear icon for settings
  • Select Advanced Settings
  • For the option “Sync Time,” select the button that says “Sync”

That should fix it to work on the correct local time based on your phone’s settings at the moment now.
Let us know if you are still noticing a discrepancy after that.

what are the chances of them being available in Australia soon ?

Also do you have to have he ambient light on or does it full light from dark too ?

The camera live feed is showing the correct DST time.
I did the time sync as suggested.

I will observe the Sunday sunset action and report.

I am using the IOS App on iPhone 13 pro max.

Typically they launch in the US first with all the stock they can amass by then. After that they will start to distribute stock to their global partners. I’ve seen that take just a couple of weeks and sometimes months. So it varies.

Yes. you can leave off the Ambient light setting and just have it only turn on the floodlights when it detects a person &/or a vehicle or for any motion. You do not have to use the Ambient lighting. It also has IR lights built into the spotlights so you can do traditional nightvision.

thanks for the reply, still waiting for the OG’s to arrive in Australia :weary:

I have my floodlight pro installed, and I love the wide angle. I hope they eventually release a standalone camera with that wide of an angle. They have a zoomed camera, but not a fisheye. I’d buy the fisheye.

Install went great, I like the metal disk that mounts to the junction box. It made it very clean install.
Camera is good, I enjoy being able to see double the width from the v3 and Pro cameras. I used to have a secondary camera plugged into the original floodlight. so this consolidates the two, into one. Huge plus IMHO.
However, at night when the floods are on, oddly, it made the image darker around the edges. See images below.

Turning night vision on, help a little. but it was a little unexpected as the original floodlights didn’t seem to have this problem.

When I first opened the box, the first thing I noticed was the plastic “lens” over the LED lights, how it has a wavy look and feel to them. Aesthetically, I didn’t like it. I preferred the smooth look of the original floodlights.
Functionality, they do their job (light up the area,) but they have more of a Spotlight, than Floodlight look to them. Comparing them to the original, I think I prefer how the original has a more diffused look to it.

This photo is the original floodlights with the v3 Pro camera. It’s not a huge difference though.

You can also use the photo above to compare just how much more space is viewable on the new floodlight pro.

The original floodlight has a lot of odd sensitivity issues with lights going on all the time due to bugs or rain. We aren’t in the rainy season so I wont be able to test that. Bugs still seem to trigger it though, but this is only night two since it was installed. I will keep an eye on it and play with settings in the coming weeks.

Overall, I think the wide angle lens alone on the new floodlight pro makes this a winner for us. The darkened image with the lights on needs a fix though IMHO.

Something I found that helped a little was pointing one or more of the lights to shine farther out instead of so close in. Even when the lights were pointed outward more, I could still see really well close in, but shining the light further out allowed the lens to focus more distantly with color instead of making it correct to darken things farther away because up close was so bright. See if doing something like that helps improve it all in your situation too.

I think when we point the floodlights so close, the lens has to auto-correct the brightness to make sure things up close aren’t washed out with light saturation. When it makes that correction, it automatically makes darker areas more dark, so if we spread the light a little better, then it allows it keep darker areas lighter too because we won’t be over-light-saturating things up close. It seemed to make a big difference for me when I made some adjustments that way and played around with it. If you try anything like that, please let us know what you experience/find out too. :+1:

Although I’m not sure how well this will work in my setup, I did go ahead and order one. I got it from HomeDepot.com for $119 plus tax. Due to arrive 6/9. However, their website now says they’re out of stock.

On my Original Wyze Floodlight, I rarely ever use the actual floodlight, because the video is so much worse with it on, regardless of the night vision options. And it may be the way the lights are pointed, but that’s the best positioning for where I have it. I’m hoping the Pro will work better for me.

No product linked in your Home Depot link above. Do you have a.product description or item SKU?

Yes, but only for Person and Vehicle.

I replaced a PIR Motion Flood w\ this cam. It has more light. It is also quicker to react than the PIR. From your photos, it doesn’t look like the lights are working at all when the house lights are off. What’s it look like in IRNV?

Steps done:
Restarted camera
Time sync done

I am led to believe that the onboard AI is used all the time, regardless of the time of day or the color\night vision mode. Like the V3Pro, it speeds up the positive tag process of motion video uploads by doing some of the AI interrogation and tagging prior to being uploaded to the server for verification by the server-side CP Wyze AI Bot.

The spotlight activation settings for AI tags are just a bonus perk of having the onboard AI present.

One of the other @mavens can correct me if I am understanding it incorrectly though.

@gyzmo From the AMA last week, here are related answers from the Product Manager, himself related to the onboard AI detection:

If I understand correctly, this cam doesn’t need CamPlus?

Cam Plus will still add some bonus features (cloud recording convenience, other AI detections besides Person/Vehicle, etc.), but you are correct that it will do person and Vehicle stuff without cam plus and we can use the SD card for recordings. That is a huge bonus for these cams to not need cam plus for all of that!

Thank you for the videos!

But I have to confess, I didn’t realize the first set were videos. I thought they were snapshots!
I wondered why they were so dark when they were labeled as having the lights on. :man_facepalming: How embarrassing!

I completely missed the boat on that voyage!

Anyway, here is a shot of my V3 cam that was mounted over my old floodlight. I replaced that floodlight (that you can see in the V3 FOV) with the Wyze Floodlight Pro.

Sorry. This is the HD link but it’s still out of stock and the price is higher now.
