Today I had a dozen older 2019 bulbs go dead after I took my router down for an hour or so. Once the router came up the bulbs all showed to be offline. I could not get them back online at all.
Funny thing, these bulbs all were on my network, as I could ping them.
I tried resetting three of the bulbs and setting them back up in the app. I couldnt even do that. I used different phones and different networks, but they would not get past the connecting option in the app.
So I broke out an old version of the Wyze app ( 2.40.0.190) and installed it on my phone. As soon as I did that, all of the bulbs I hadnt touched all came back online.
I went to another phone that had the latest WYZE app on it, and they were all now working on this one as well.
I Then tried adding the three bulbs I couldnt add before. With an attempt or two, I was able to add these three bulbs to the Wyze app.
Alas all is not well, as you can trigger the app on and off, but it has little effect on the bulb. The app sees the bulb as online, but the bulb does not respond to the app.
I deleted the old version of the app, and reinstalled the latest version, and all the bulbs work with the exception of the three I tried to add.
I do wonder if I downgraded the firmware on the bulbs to match the old app, would the app then be able to properly add the bulbs and all would be well in darkland.
I havent a clue as to how to do that, so I will just have to wonder.
i hope this message is of value to others. Do not try to re add the bulbs, just change the app.
Remember, you must use that version. Anything older will not allow you to log into the app, and newer will not give you the results you are looking for.
