Wyze Bud Right Budd offline / Firmware Upd Fails

Right earbud stopped working. It shows as offline in the app.

I tried to update the firmware, it says it is available but it immediately fails when I try and update and says “Oops we’re sorry looks like the update failed let’s give that another try”. I select try again and nothing happens.

I tried live support chat but they couldn’t resolve it and it looks like they are going to replace them (waiting on confirmation) but I’d like to figure out what’s wrong in case I come across the same problem with the next pair.
