Wyze App on iPad 12.9 3rd gen - Monitoring Tab - Full Screen?

I’m running Wyze App version 3.2.6(1)

When on the Monitoring Tab, showing 4 cameras, I cannot get the app to go full screen to put those four views in a mode to utilize the full real estate of the iPad screen.

Tested this on my iPhone 12 Pro Max, and iPhone 16 Pro Max, and same issue, can’t get Landscape mode to show the four camera views to maximize the real estate of the Landscape view.

Double tap on one camera in the monitoring tab will not utilize the landscape view either.

Is this Normal?

Yes it is normal. Wyze hasn’t figured out how to implement a full landscape interface on any tablets.

They did say this back in May:

:crossed_fingers:, I guess. :man_shrugging:

I guess they have 30 days left to make it happen. 2025 is around the corner

We can only hope, I suppose. It would be nice to see Landscape mode on my iPad show four camera’s using the available real estate in that mode.

The end results works fine on Android. Getting there is portrait but end results works great for my 8 cams. Does it work this way on iOS?

Yes it does, exactly the same. What I am referring is the rest of the tabs, such as Monitoring and Account tabs, you have to flip the tablet as those tabs are in portrait mode only.

That looks like a camera group, not the Monitoring tab.

@ssummerlin let me try and clear the air with the beef I have with Wyze for not providing a full landscape support when everyone and their mother has.

I have my tablet on a stand on my desk and I monitor my cameras while at my desk. It works great in group mode, but everything else is half baked. I would like to mount another tablet on the wall in the kitchen so we all have a good view of the cameras but the present state of the Wyze app prevents me from doing that. Here is why:

When I first open the app on my tablet, all is fine and dandy, the view opens in landscape view as shown below.

Then I go to group and single camera view, and all is fine again.

Then I go into Events tab, hmmm half baked, quite a bit of wasted space, don’t you think?

Here is the fun part and where Wyze fails where everyone shines, and I will demonstrate in another post.

I decide to go into the monitoring tab and whoops, I have to bend my neck 90 degrees or disconnect the tablet, remove it from the stand and flip it so I can do whatever I need to do in that tab.

Now, for whatever the reason I need to get into my settings into the account page (don’t even get me started on the single camera settings as you can’t even get to them without flipping the tablet). Way too many flips and flops in my opinion.

EDIT: I doubt this is an iOS only issue.

As I said, here is a new post as how everyone else is implementing full landscape GUI on iPad.

Let’s start with my favourite, TP-Link Kasa:

Google (Evil Empire) Nest Thermostat:

Amazon Eero:

No need to flip or bend my neck for any of the above.

What makes it more interesting is that somehow Wyze app works fine in landscape mode on my Mac Mini, mind you I need to scroll down to reach out to whatever is hidden below, but beats flipping and bending

I wish I was a programmer and I could figure out the Holly Grail of landscape mode so I can give Wyze a tip how to do it. I doubt it is that hard, but what do I know, I’m not a code junky.

Don’t even get me started on the dark mode on both phone and tablet…

Both iOS and Android mobile devices have screen rotation lock. Wyze doesn’t respect that setting.

In Android and browsing the cloud events, say you’re portrait mode. Selecting one event then shows the clip in landscape mode? When your tablet is on a stand, you’d have to reach out and grab the tablet.

Pardon my ignorance but I don’t think that there is such a thing as a “screen rotation lock” on iOS, at least the one I’m aware of.

In any case, Wyze needs to get in with the rest of the world and give us a full landscape and dark mode.

I have an iPad. The rotation lock is actually a physical slider on the top edge. On Android, it’s a software setting.

Edit - I looked up rotation lock on iPhones; it seems like it’s also a setting.

I’m sorry but I don’t see it. The slider on the top edge of the iPad is the power on/off button. Not sure what I’m missing here?

Care to show me where is the setting, I’d really appreciate it!

Straight from Apple Support.

He has a Canadian iPad.

I really have an older iPad. Newer iPads don’t have the physical button. They have the software settings now.

You’re right. It’s not. I don’t use the Monitoring tab much, but the flippy-floppy going into any Settings is a :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:.

I don’t have enough Kasa devices to experience what you showed, but, dang, that’s really nice how it respects orientation and splits the devices into two columns to more efficiently use the available space. I like that and can see why it’s a favo[u]rite. :+1:

Heh: “bytehaus”. I dig it.

That’s super goofy. I wonder why it works in that situation, even with the Monitoring tab? :man_shrugging:

Ah, the control centre :+1:

Maybe Apple knows something that Wyze doesn’t :man_shrugging:
