Hi all, just starting with Wyze and all cameras set-up and working fine on home wifi network. First time at work since set-up and my Wyze app just stays on the blue screen and if I turn wifi off it connects through cellular??
Yes, you will have to use cellular to access your Wyze Cams unless you are connected to the same WiFi network with your cameras (same router, 2.4 or 5 GHz) to access your home camera system through your Wyze account.
Hope this helps,

Thank you, I don’t recall seeing that info anywhere!! Appreciate your help.
No problem, we did not know either, and when we were purchasing a new vehicle at the dealership we used their WiFi and could not access the cams at home unless we used the cellular connection. I guess there is no way to know if the WiFi is open and therefore may not be secure? Although I am not positive. I only know we were never able to connect from WiFi to the cams unless at home on the same network with the cameras. Cams on 2.4 GHz iPad on 5 GHz WiFi but same router. Maybe someone from Wyze could clarify.

In that case the VW dealership open WiFi is/was blocking the required handshake to Wyze when we were using their WiFi purchasing a new auto. That is the remote location we attempted to use to connect to our Wyze Cams through the app without success. Also tried to connect to the Wyze Cans from a restaurant on the beach at Holiday Inn on their WiFi without success. Only the iPhone connected to them remotely from either location.
Thanx,

Sorry Christine, but that’s just bad luck with those two external wifi networks. Most likely due to port blocking or other connectivity issue there.
To try to resolve the issue where you can’t connect while on external wifi, see this:
