If you’ve been participating in beta, auto-updates has been out there for months for some cam types. I posted something about auto-update testing in one of the beta release topics.
I missed that. For those who don’t participate in Beta, this should have been a user choice on update. Not a default to on.
I see pros and cons both ways, but am leaning towards default off and feature announcement either way.
Agreed. Default off, Feature pop-up announcement, and a global toggle on the top of the Bulk Firmware update page to turn all of them on or off in one click.
I recall you stressing those points over a year ago.
Ah yes… Back in my more rebellious days. So much has changed. Yes? I am so much more mellow now. @peepeep will attest to that I am sure.
I love the real you.
I grew up in the 50’s. I don’t like change but sometimes I take a chance.
Because v3 firmware 4.36.11.5859 had the release paused and 4.36.11.4679 is being analyzed for failure rate, I am still on 4.36.10.4054. I am using the 2.46 version of the App. It probably is my older v3 firmware causing me to not see the Automatic Update Option. Thanks for the explanation.
The “Wyze Sound 3” notification sound no longer works right for me after this app update. When I go into the settings and select it, it still plays the same sound as it used to. But when I get an actual notification, it instead plays the default Samsung notification sound “Spaceline” - which is not even the one I have selected as my phone’s default notification sound.
In the Wyze app, I tested changing it to “System Default” and to “Wyze Sound 2” - those both work correctly. But “Wyze Sound 3” still doesn’t, and still plays this “Spaceline” sound instead, which I don’t like. Strange bug, right? I guess I’ll switch to using Wyze Sound 2, but I really liked #3 best.
And then they made him a
It seems that this update has removed the new event report feature. The “show” or whatever it was called that showed you a little Timelapse type thing. Maybe since this is a prod app instead of beta it hasn’t been pushed to this yet?
They removed that in the last Beta RC 2. I’m not on the newest Beta yet, still on this PR. Not sure if the newest Beta has it. Haven’t seen any posts about it there yet.
UPDATE It appears that has been reenabled on the server side for the Wyze Week release. It also appears they have slowed down the slide show to play at a viewable speed.
I have not seen it in the lastest beta app 2.46.0 (b369)
Thanks for this tip Seapup!!
I turned Auto-Update off on my V3 and V3 Pro cameras.
I like to control the updates myself.
I have test V2 and V3 cameras I update first, and then do them one at a time.
I guess I need to purchase a spare V3 Pro too at some point.
I noticed the V2 cameras do not have this option yet.
No problem! I like to control my updates manually too. I do have auto update turned on for 1 or 2 of each cam type that this has been rolled out to… just to test the feature.
Is there a way to force the app update? I’m still seeing 2.45.5.347 in the Play Store.
You could grab the APK install file of the version you want on this link.
10/26/23: Monitoring still doesn’t work. Before adding new features, shouldn’t you make sure your base features work? You know, the ones that subscribers are paying for?
