This is the same way the iPhone widgets work. So widgets seem to work in this same way, but it’s odd it looks like you can only add one rule per widget.
But in any case this is more about getting the up shortcuts setup.
But yes clearly the beta version was different. I’m mean even the release notes are different.
On the beta version it listed,
Fixed a crash on Pixel devices when changing the display to the smallest setting in Landscape mode (Android)
Fixed a bug that hid the gunshot filter in the Events tab (Android)
Fixed crash that happened when viewing sensor video Events (iOS)
I updated my iPad to 2.49 this morning and all my critter event videos from yesterday and today are now tagged as motion. I did not update my iPhone app and all the cat, possum, and raccoon videos are still tagged as Pet as they should be.
On mine there are 3 versions of the widget. One of them allows one shortcut, one of them 4 and one of them 8. Interestingly the 4 and 8 ones don’t seem to let you configure what widgets to display, it just picks its own I guess. That’s kinda annoying.
Sometimes it is an issue in the cloud and not in the app, however, if they tossed this in the app itself and didn’t test it first, like you said…not cool.
@Known1
Can you submit a log from a device that exhibits that issue with no thumbnail and give me the log number along with the local time of the video?
Edit:
Oddly, after closing the app and going back in the 8:47am without a thumbnail played and had a thumbnail. However the 8:46am video, which has a thumbnail will not play. Very strange behavior. Other cameras (V3) are having the same issue. Haven’t tested any V2s…
Edit 2:
The v3 that I logged above is CAM PLUS. I just confirmed the same issue with a non-CAM PLUS v2. Let me know if you want a log from that cam as well.
Added support for the microphone setting for each camera in a camera group (excluding doorbells)
Added support for Dark Theme for the Home, Event, and Event Filter pages in App Settings
Added support for Motion Warning Actions on multiple cameras in Rules
Added support for an interactive widget for Rule Shortcuts on iOS 17 and Android 14
Modified the validity period for Trusted Devices to 30 days
Optimized Thumbnail Show
Bug fixes
Android 10, got the largest Rule widget (5x5) to populate with the first 8 existing Shortcuts (in the order they appear in the app.)
Try opening and re-saving the first Shortcut in the list from within the app (refreshing the list on the server, I suppose) if the widget doesn’t populate (or function) for you.
It worked with the middle size widget (5x2) as well - but not the smallest (2x2). Neither selecting an existing Shortcut from the presented list, nor creating a new Shortcut (on a second try) would populate it.
/edit
Found a way to establish a 2x2 widget:
Open app
Go to Rules
Open and resave a Shortcut (may not be necessary)
Leave app open at Rules list
Add widget to desired page
Tap ‘plus’ sign on widget face
Choose desired Shortcut
/edit
Establishing a single Device widget for a cam in a Group loads the specified cam but doesn’t connect - never gets past step 1 in the negotiation.
I just figured out if I watch the previous event, I can swipe right to watch the event that will not play on its own from the event list. This work around is acceptable and much better than having to view playback.
I checked the beta app before I updated to the new release, and apparently, the beta had all this other stuff in it too, Wyze just didn’t list it all in the beta release notes for some reason so we just didn’t realize it was in there until we saw these new public release notes. I’m guessing someone just forgot to mention it when the Beta was going out.
Or it could be like Jason hypothesized, maybe some things were a backend update and not necessarily a local app change. Though for the widgets, I am sure that had to be an app change. That particular feature was working on the Beta app though I tried it before updating to this one.
Will disagree to this to a point. In when I had the beta app installed the Wyze app wasn’t getting listed in shortcut application on the iPhone. How 100% the widget may of been there and we just didn’t know and it just wasn’t listed as a change, but that is still the same issue to be honest. In no one got to test it out.
But something was for sure different, as I was only able to get the Wyze app to show in the shortcut application by installing the one from the Apple Store. But also that bring said no one still has message back in how this is used, so maybe it being listed is a bug and it shouldn’t even be in there.
Yea I also didn’t see it in the shortcuts app or in the widgets page until I updated via the App Store. Maybe the changes made it into the android app but not the IOS one.
Wyze usually doesn’t skip betas unless it’s a critical fix, but sometimes this seems to happen. It has gotten better lately though. I hope they continue to improve their CI/CD pipeline and eliminate confusion like this.
I am trying to figure out the same thing after watching this video. I have the NFC tags and just want to tap my phone to it to trigger turning on/off specific lights.
