Actually, sometimes even Forum Admins do that:
AI is like the âWisdom of the Crowdâ phenomenon. One main problem is that it can be skewed with data bias. Also, it hasnât really been trained on critical thinking and in some ways it will often give equal weight to the most ignorant statements as it does to those based in facts, research, etc. But even if it was purely trained on research, there is evidence of a lot of research fraud and made up data due to pressure researchers get. Even if that werenât the case, you canât necessarily âdisenfranchiseâ a group of perceived âignorantsâ to give preference to another group of âelitesâ or there are other problems. So there are a lot of challenges. But these are also the same challenges humans have with dealing with human information.
On the plus side, AI has the potential to be more objective than a human in other ways due to the data-driven analysis in vast amounts that arenât even possible by humans. AIâs can also be trained on diverse datasets and develop a broader understanding that isnât as impeded by human cognitive biases. There are ways to compare performance with various tests and objective measures.
But yeah, definitely there are limitations and biases, but the same thing can be said for nearly any typical human on an exponentially greater level of limitations and biases too. It can be really challenging to train a human on critical thinking skills. Even just overcoming confirmation bias alone sometimes feels extremely impossible for the typical human, but is possible to run an AI through various processes that can mitigate that. I kind of like when AIâs have started to list more than 1 perspective in responses including what both supporters or critics say about a subject, along with various sources.
Perfect example of what I was explaining about giving equal weight to the most ignorant of statements (example being Googleâs AI recommending people to put Glue on Pizza because somebody said that as a joke on Reddit)
AI learns from the intelligence of others and provides sciolistic responses until able to form objective answers.
This is what a headful of useless pop culture gets you.
slattern
- To consume carelessly or wastefully; to waste; â with away.
I thought The @Crease owned this one but a search shows no evidence.

I make this change:
It occurred to me before subsequent comments, fwiw.

I have a dog-sense about this.

S.O. wants to know why you keep dissing socialism. Also, she says 'Watch out, weâre gonna grab âem by the ballot!â
Sheâs cute when sheâs stupid.
I come from a combative cultural background. Everyone gives as good as they take.
I guess Iâm glad you qualified this with âwith awayâ, because my familiarity with slattern (the word!) involves the definitions without âwith awayâ:
- a prostitute who attracts customers by walking the streets
- a dirty, untidy woman
It was just a piece of mental litter that swirled into the yard out of the alley. Didnât think I should deprive you of it.
Iâm still not sure what youâre trying to say about meâŚ.
I respect you. Therefore you get âunexpurgated.â
Likewise.
I didnât realize Iâd been expurgated in the first place. Shows how much I know, eh?
ââŚStandard Book of British BirdsâŚâ Fun to thum through!
Julie Christie despises AI, btw.

I didnât realize until now that thereâs a video version with Marty Feldman doing the Michael Palin part:
Iâd heard only the album audio recording before.
Overheard outside Wendyâs:
âOMG, you are so sciolistic!â
