have the wireless battery cam pro - and have it in our garden - and like all our cams, just use the local SDcard for recording -
Having poke around - it appears that when detection is triggered, the cam turns on, connects, and records for about 12secs and then turns off - and guards for re-activation for 5 minutes… it seems like the settings almost reflect this - but have 5secs vs the observed 12secs.
Just wondering if the settings reflect real world operation ?
And - it appears I can’t change them when using local SDcard -
Lastly - is there any setting that will turn on the spotlight during the 5-12sec recording - maybe scare away the squirrel, bunny, chipmunks
I think I’ve seen others mention it recording for 12 seconds. Maybe a glitch with something. As far as the 5 minute “cool down” period, you need to pay for a subscription to eliminate that (though the battery cam may still have some sort of cool down even with a subscription to help save battery life, not sure).
On the wired cams, even during that 5 minute period, it will still record motion to the card, it just won’t “tag” and “notify” you. Not sure if the battery cam is the same but if you look at the timeline, you should see if it is recording during that time. It will be a little green spot but won’t have the icon for an event above it.
On the wired cams, if you set the spotlight to “auto” it will come on when it is dark (cam is in black and white instead of color mode). However you can override that by setting the spotlight to manual, then setting up an automation for “if motion is detected” “turn on spotlight for x minutes”. You can then set the time you want that to start and stop. Dusk to dawn is usually a good selection there. But unfortunately I don’t know if the BCP supports this like the wired cams do, but It would seem odd if it didn’t, that’s basically the main function of the spotlight.
