Will solar panel charge if cam is off during day?

I have a Wyze Battery Cam Pro with solar panel. I have RULES set to turn cam on at sunset and off at sunrise. Will the solar panel charge the battery when the cam is off?
It seems to lose 4 to 5% of charge every couple of days.

Welcome @tommy.moberly

It should charge as the camera does not need to be on to charge it.

What are your settings on the camera? Detection settings, Event Recording, and Notifications. Do you have an SD Card in the camera? If so, is it set for event recording or Event only?

30 ft detection area.
Motion Event recordings.
Sensitivity 4 out of 6
No SD card.
Notifications turned off.
12 second record with 3 minute cooldown.
Usually no more than 6 events a night.
Thanks for a quick response.
I have never seen the battery level gain charge from 1 day to the next.

Do you have Cam Plus?

My settings are as follows:

Detection Zone is on: Eliminating the trees to increase battery life
Distance: 30ft
Detection Sensitivity: 5
Motion Tagging: on
Event Recordig: Detects Motion On
Smart Detection: Person and Pet
Recording Cooldown: 30 Seconds
Macimum Video Length: 2 Minutes
Notifications: On but for AI events only
Spotlight: off

The Detection Sensitivity Is both PIR and Radar, but at a certain setting the Radar is turned off. I am trying to find out what that setting is. I think it is at 6, but not 100% sure yet.

@carverofchoice , do you remember when Radar is turned off on the BCP sensitivity setting?

spamoni,
yes I have Cam Plus

My battery used to drain until I set the discovery zone to remove the trees from the mix. At least the branches and leaves.

Not sure what you are triggering on, but you may be able to mask things so that they don’t cause additional battery drain.

Detection Sensitivity 6 out of 6 turns off the Radar and uses PIR only.

Thanks. I knew you had the answer.

well, that’s the thing, it is not triggering on those things- they are masked out of the detection zone.
I may have only 6 triggers of 12 seconds video during the night.
Daytime the cam is off but the solar panel does not increase the battery level.
After 1 and a half months battery level is down to 41%.
Solar panel is south facing and has good clear view for 75% of day time.

I was hoping the solar would keep it charged since it records less than 3 or 4 minutes a day.
