Where is the Micro USB Port on Wyze Duo Cam Doorbell?

I’m upgrading from my old Wyze Video Doorbell (first generation) to the new Wyze Duo Cam Doorbell. With my old doorbell, I used the Micro USB port for power, and it worked great for my setup. Now, I’m trying to find the Micro USB port with the 5 cm watertight pigtail on the Duo Cam Doorbell for my installation, but I can’t locate it.

I’ve read that the reset button might have a cover (like a rubber cap or seal), and the Micro USB port or its pigtail could be underneath. Can anyone confirm this? Here are my questions:

  1. Where exactly is the Micro USB port with the 5 cm pigtail located on the Wyze Duo Cam Doorbell?
  2. Is it hidden under a cover near the reset button, or do I need to remove the backplate to see it?
  3. Has anyone powered their Duo Cam Doorbell using the Micro USB port? If so, how did you set it up?
  4. Could anyone share photos of the Micro USB port, pigtail, or the area around the reset button? This would really help me plan my installation.

I’ve checked the manual and Wyze’s website, but there’s no clear photo or description of the Micro USB port’s location. Since I’m familiar with the Micro USB setup from my old doorbell, I’d prefer to use it for the Duo Cam if possible. Any tips or images would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you so much for your help!

It looks like to hard wire that one you need normal doorbell wires from a transformer? It has two screws on the back.

The battery itself is charged with USB-C but you can’t leave that plugged in all the time.

Note you weren’t actually supposed to be using the micro USB port on the old one - it is a diagnostic port, and while it does charge the camera, according to Wyze it voids your warranty if you use it…

I think the mention of micro USB on the spec page is a mistake, unless it is behind that cover near the reset button, but nowhere is it mentioned (other than that one spot on the spec page) that it can be wired using micro USB. It specifically says it needs AC power which would come from doorbell wires.

Here is a picture of the charging port from the quick start guide (USB-C). I’m guessing it is not intended to power the cam constantly. It might work but probably will void the warranty and may not allow it to be mounted properly. You’d probably need to find some special angled Type C adapter too. It may not even work, it might power off the cam during charging (or not give you all the benefits of hardwiring like continuous recording or “pre roll” video). I’d go for standard doorbell wiring connected to the screw terminals as that’s the official way of hardwiring it.

Thanks for the reply! I noticed that the official specs for the Wyze Duo Cam Doorbell mention a “Micro USB with 5 cm watertight pigtail” under the Power section (as shown in the screenshot below). Can you confirm if this port can be used for power without the battery installed? For example, could I use it for continuous power instead of hardwiring or USB-C?

Looking forward to your insights!

As I mentioned, I think that is an error on the product page. It has no micro USB port. Only the USB-C one. There is no mention of it in any of the documentation. That is likely copy/pasted from another model doorbell.

It’s well documented that the battery must be installed even when Duo Cam Doorbell is wired to low-voltage AC (using the screw terminals). The Help Center will tell you this. The note you’re seeing on the product page may be an error. We’re asking Wyze for clarification.

As @dave27 suggested, standard wiring to the terminals may be the way to go with this, and it’s possible to use a plug-in transformer, which could give you a setup similar to your USB-powered Video Doorbell (v1) if you don’t already have an existing built-in transformer and wiring supplying low-voltage AC to your doorbell button’s location.
