I am a new user of the Wyze Doorbell Pro, Works great!
However, I’ve worked in customer service for 40 years and when the doorbell is rung i’d like to talk with person ASAP to meet their needs.
I have the Wyze Doorbell setup to Call using VOIP, I get the call but when I answer the call is terminated. I ask the Chat SUpport for help, I was told working as designed.
My wishlist is when the doorbell is rung, my phone will answer and automatically launch the Wyze app focused on the doorbell session.
I do have the Chime as well for home, get a notification on my phone but would be nice to have the app load automatically and focus on the Doorbell session
That’s a great idea. I have done similar things with Google Displays and Alexa Displays, but being able to do it on the phone would be useful for a lot of people.
For those with moderate technical capabilities, there are 3rd party apps that could do this for you right now. You would just have an app like Tasker or Macrodroid watch for the doorbell button press or VoIP call notification and then they can be programmed to automatically answer it and that should load the app and video screen.
I don’t have hands-on experience with Video Doorbell Pro, but when I receive a VoIP call after a button press of my Video Doorbell v2 and answer that call, the phone immediately drops the call (I hear the standard hang-up sound from my phone) and then the app navigates to a screen within the Wyze app that’s like a video call, where it usually takes a few seconds to load the live stream and 2-way audio. What you describe seems to be missing that hand-off to the app, though, so I wonder if it’d do any good to test a button press/call, submit a log if the failure persists, and then follow that up with a Support ticket.
I also wonder if there’s some sort of setting on your phone that’s interfering with this hand-off and/or if you enabled “wyze” as a calling account on your phone when you set up VoIP. If you check in your phone app’s settings, you should see that. With the stock Android Phone app on a Google Pixel device, for instance, I see “wyze” under the Phone app’s ⋮ ➜ Settings ➜ Calls ➜ Calling accounts ➜ Settings. Since you described yourself as a “new user”, I wonder if you missed that. (It’s easy to miss.)
As far as the automatic answering is concerned, I agree with @carverofchoice about the use of 3rd-party options, at least currently. I think you need to get the VoIP answering to work correctly first, though.
