When will Wyze release a USB-C rechargeable scale?

How many people would love Wyze to release a version of their scale that uses a USB-C rechargeable lithium battery?

How many people are tired of burning through AAA batteries and/or tired of recharging and swapping AAA batteries that don’t hold a charge for very long?

I am surprised that Wyze provides any sort of power cable and AC adapter. I guess they figure we have so many micro USBs laying around.

First Apple and then Samsung.

My Norelco shaver came with USB type A but no AC adapter.

Not sure if they still do it, but the UK sold appliances without the plug, leaving just two wires for you to sort.out. That was 1985. Hopefully they made progress since then.

I do like the ability to just plug a USB C cable into a device without having a 50-50 chance of getting the correction right. Unfortunately, there is only a 10 chance at that.

Sorry: I got side-tracked.

You were talking about leaving batteries for an internal battery.

Please carry on.

@bradleyrlk,

How often do you need to change batteries? My Ultra has been in service since 11-1-24, almost 2 months. The battery indicator shows at least 3/4 full. That is using the cheapo batteries that came with the scale.

My previous wyze scale seemed to need a battery change every 4-6 months. Not a burden.

Now to give your idea some thought.

If I can speculate a bit. The majority of scales are in the bathroom (or the loo).

If the scale had a usb-c connector then I would need to bend down to get the scale and move it to a charging area (Not easy at my age).

Or

Plug a long usb cable from the GFI to the scale. In my BR that would drape a across the sink and entry way. The BR would be inaccessible while the scale is charging.

Or

Plug an AC extension cord into the GFI, run the cord on the floor to the scale.

Or

Connect a power bank with a short cable to the scale. (this seems very plausible and I would use it).

So I have to weigh these possibilities compared with walking into the BR with fresh batteries, bend down to pick up the scale, swap batteries, put scale down. Do this 2-4 times a year.

I would use the power bank idea if it had a minimal cost increase.
