You might not be able to find that feature on regular cams as it mostly used for rear view cameras on cars.
Please add this to the Wyze Wishlist! We can do this with future software update, but not sure how much users would like this compared to the other things we are working on.
I have a daughter with 3 young kids, all riding in the back of her minivan, Yep, she uses Wyze cameras to check on them while she drives. Would be nice to have that left-right switch.
But sheās an engineer so Iām sure she can cope
That was something else I thought about while reading this. I helped my brother-in-law install a backup camera on a nephewās car once. I donāt know anything about that market, so I have no idea whether or not it would be a worthwhile niche for Wyze to explore. Part of that project also involved installing a video display to show the backup cameraās view, and I think that ties back into the idea of something like a peephole camera needing an accompanying monitor[1].
Something like this?
Iām curious about how she gets the picture. Phone and cameras both on an in-vehicle Wi-Fi network? That seems like itād probably be the easiest way in a properly-equipped modern car.
Yes, I know. I have researched those quite a bit. I donāt want to hard wire a camera. I like the ability to use a battery powered rechargeable unit that I move around if necessary. When someone with security cameras come out with it, or I manage to find a vendor, then I will move on. I have about 10 or so folks who have the same boat buy Wyze cameras, after seeing my setup. They are good cameras, but have this issue. If it were corrected, i think they would see a deeper penetration into the RV and Pleasure cruiser marine market. The marine market drives a premium price on most marine accessories. But, I think Wyze must be ok with āmissing the boatā.
She uses the phoneās hotspot.
Thank you. I think it has been requested based upon other forum posts. If you check and you donāt have the request, I will spend the time to fill out the use case. However, I am not interested in wasting time on something that you guys wonāt entertain. So, if you do check, and the request isnāt there, or has been canned, or is too far down the list, then I donāt see any to waste anyoneās time on it, including mine.
Good call. @WyzeDave, itās already on the list:
Dang, really low vote count = not very popular, and will probably be a low priority. Thankfully itās also one that should be fairly easy to implement, so that helps.
One nice thing is that Wyze does make it possible for us to often do our own customizations by allowing access to an official API Key/ID. Using 3rd party solutions we can actually mirror the image ourselves (Docker Wyze Bridge, Tiny Cam, etc). It would certainly be convenient to have an official/built-in solution, but Iām glad they at least donāt block us from customizations like some companies do.
Yeah, but @WyzeDave said to add it, soā¦.
My problem has been that I canāt connect the red wire to the backup lights the way my car is designed, so when I put it in reverse it doesnāt bring the rear view on screen. Not sure if all this talk is even related to Wyze.
I have one of them, but they are a temporary view - and the ladies attack it on sight! They donāt like dark things (like bears, skunks, etc) which I why beekeepers wear white or light colored suits.
I want something that I can leave in the hive and either check on them from my living room or get AI notifications in the mite count is high or it sounds like they are going to swarm.
I hate to rain on your parade but your application is way too specialized and I doubt Wyze will ever go for it. Your best bet is to do something DIY. All the best!
Is there any space to put a wyze v3 or v4 inside the box? Many have done this with bird cages. They are generally white. They have IR to see in the dark, but I am not sure you can differentiate between good and bad bees. Even then, I can imagine the view would be restricted.
Seems like mounting a cam on an āLā bracket at the opening of the box would provide ambient light and you could see all entering and exiting bees. (Sure would be nice if AI could detect the bad bees and alert you.)
I am sure you can come up with something.
I would like to see something like this but with a light to replace the lightbulb I took out.
All of my lights are too low and I could only use this in my fenced-in back yard. My friend has a light high in the air on his front porch. This could be useful, but I wouldnāt want to be without a light.
I know there is a socket adapter for a light and cam, but this would be an easier and cleaner solution.
Iāve been using a Wyze contact sensor on our mailbox to do that for years. First was the old V-1 sensors and now a V-2. When my mailbox opens, it triggers Alexa to announce, āYour mail is hereā and I also get a mobile notification.
I would probably drill a hole for a peephole cam.it would need a 2 inch diagonal screen built in. Door knock, ring or motion activated screen.
Iām in for one avocado cam. But weād need rhe Peach Cam for rhe Ga folks and an Apple Cam or walnut cam for the non avocado growing zones.
Fantastic idea. I should have thought outside the backyard box.
I have an Avocado and a Mango tree.
The mango cam sounds good, I mean delicious. Solar powered Sunflower cam. I was thinking the See-Saw cam, but realized that has its ups and downs.
Wouldnāt mind a V4 sized - magnetic base 2.5k+ that had a 30 min record time for making easy short videos. Just a power switch and a record button. Plug it in to charge and it auto uploads to Plus for quick edits.

Garden lighting that you can place on the ground, such as for planters or walkways leading up to the house. These could be positioned closer to the road, and double as a license plate reader. Something like the Wyze OG telephoto with a higher fps, but placed closer to the road, could help ID any unusual cars. To not appear out of place, there should also be the exact same lights available without the camera feature. Not sure the legalities of this, but my house got broken into earlier this year and I really wished I got the plate off the cars (if not the exact car model).

Similar to the above, motion activated stair lighting. Something you can mount underneath each step, and like the above, have both camera and no camera variant. I believe Ring may have something similar, but without the camera. Alternately, since most users would already have cameras aimed away from the house, just have the stair lighting trigger event recording from connected cameras. Iād be okay with swapping out batteries like every 6 months with 6 event triggers a day.

Dedicated battery powered spotlight with emphasis on the spotlight and ease of placement. Iirc some of your competitors have a motion activated spotlight that runs off batteries. Would be similar to the outdoor cam, but I would like something brighter that can help illuminate slightly dark porches during sunrise/sunset, to help the existing cameras capture more detail in less ideal light. Should be way more portable than the exisiting spotlights (not require hardwiring), so something in the middle of the two (focus on lighting with high motion activated sensitivity). I currently use battery operated, sensitive motion activated spotlights that you can get for cheap off Amazon, but would prefer to integrate them into the Wyze notification ecosystem, just as another layer of redundancy (notify when spotlight triggered).

Not really turning into a camera, but aiding exisiting cameras: Some sort of outdoor motion sensor/strip that acts similarly to the current HMS indoor motion sensor, but works for outdoors. Instead of having a camera built in per say, would utilize existing outdoor cameras as a way to trigger recordings/notifications. The burglers that broke in climbed a backyard gate. Many suburbs outlaw nail strips/barbed wire/glass deterance on walls/gates (which is a good thing to protect EMS), and anti climbing paint is dissuaded (you have to put signs up or only paint at certain height). A flexible pressure strip that you can run on top of a wall/gate, or even a mat that you can place on the floor (like one of those DDR game mats) could supplement camera detection (tell the camera to prepare to record).
