I also have some group chats with my family and my Wife’s family (though she’s the oldest of 12 kids, so you take her siblings, their spouses, and 28 nieces and nephews just on her side, and I already have too much to keep up with just on one side of the family in group chats). But outside of the family chats, I don’t post a lot on social media (though I do scroll TikTok a lot without posting anything myself ) Only really on here during breaks in between working.
Wyze has been a really awesome environment in general about a topic I enjoy, and something I know a lot about that I feel I actually help some people. The watercooler area to just chop it up with the rest of you [random] regulars is a big bonus since I enjoy some watercooler talk too.
I have a criminal record, around 5 cases, all for street fights and while there are the occasional arrogant and unwillingness to try to see your points of view I have never had one do anything illegal to me or lie in a report against me. I feel like cops are getting too much hate for the occasional bad cop that surfaces. That saying “dont let one bad apple spoil the bunch” or "dont paint them all with the same brush:. What I think it all boils down to is people dont like to admit theyre in the wrong. Egos get too big too often. I also come across too many people who think they’re the center of the universe and that everyone must bow to them. Again that unchecked fragile ego. I think more of us need to put ourselves in their shoes. You walk up to house you were sent to, a person comes out all excited, amped up, angry and giving off an abrasive and confrontational vibe. You’re not going to take any crap from anyone. That’s why I don’t hate on police. Does anyone like being told what to do? No but we’re adults, the police are wanted there by the majority of the public, I can admit my attitude isn’t all roses and sunshine and police are people too. They’re not going to take anyones crap just like none of us would. Another thing is cops have far less autonomy over whether they can charge us or not than we think. A good mzny times they have no choice and are forced to arrest us and file charges. More often than not when we cool down we realize the cop was just doing his job and ive seen it plenty where folks stop and apologize to the officer who arrested them. We all need to stop and slow our roll, bring down that excitement and have a level head. Emotions are a powerful thing, dont let them trip you up.
Those Flock cameras are amazing crime reduction devices. When car theft went up 129% in the CO front range, Castle Rock put up Flock cameras and car theft went down 29% when all the cities around them went up 129%. Lower claims now mean insurance not going up as much as every place around. When stolen car seen, police stop it immediately before they can steal another. But it’s cameras like Wyze, ring cameras, doorbells that allow police to track the car back to the place they stole it, bam conviction if guilty, Cameras result in proof, prevent charging aan innocent person.
How does Wyze, Ring and Doorbells cameras allow police to track the car?
You are giving up your privacy for security. Ben Franklin said, “Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.” – Author: Benjamin Franklin.
You keep an eye on your outdoor Ring & Wyze cameras and video doorbells. You look around on YT, and you will see the actions of police when they perform a knock and talk at innocent people’s door. Many PDs and other law enforcement are taking note of all these cameras that they don’t control. They will disable, block even break your video doorbell and outside cameras for “officer safety”.
Please, just check back in with your story, when you learn the truth personally about your protectors.
Calm down and wait, they will teach you. I don’t hate cops. I dislike bad policing.
There was a time when there was only a few people doing bad policing. Now, the few that don’t do bad policing are the minority.
It happening across the country. So how, something has triggered cops to be angry and hold disdain for the people that pay there salary. I am not going to bias anyone here. But if you don’t think its a problem get on YT and see what the citizen journalist that have nothing to do with legacy media are posting. I wish it wasn’t true. I get nothing for raising the flag. Just be careful.
One a note, I am not wanted or dangerous, so they are not looking for me, but I do think about how I can improve me security posture. I don’t have a video doorbell. But as a backup to my own outside cameras, I have added one inside above my door frame, that looks down from above. Its unseen from the outside looking in.
An LED light bulb. I have wanted a down light bulb camera on my front porch forever and I’ve tried SO many different offerings, but one of them have the usability and user interface that Wyze cams and their app have.
I’ve always said, Wyze makes cameras. Wyze makes light bulbs. So make a light bulb cam with the same light control properties as their bulbs and the ease of monitoring as their cameras.
Their socket option is bulky and doesn’t work in recessed fixtures, plus nobody likes having a cable coming out of their light fixture or having to have a separate camera.
Thank you for allowing me to vent and rant. This is as close to social media as I get. So, only place I could say it, but a screen I erase. And that’s not very effective.
