Part 2 of 2: because there is a Character limit for a single post, and this AMA was too big to fit it all into one post.
Why is it that when I actually get a package cam plus doesn’t say a word but if my daughter or I have out gym backs or a trash bag it’s like PACKAGE!
RTSP QUESTIONS:
Thanks for your question! Right now, we are internally testing RTSP for v3 with Wyze employees. I don’t want to make any promises, but our current timeline to release this will probably be within the next 3-4 months. It’s unlikely for Outdoor Cam to get RTSP because it’s battery powered, and we’ll probably look at the doorbell next, but we haven’t been able to look into that too deeply yet.
If you’re looking to expand your security network with cams that are future-proofed for RTSP, I suggest sticking with a Wyze Cam v3!
(USER RESPONSE): Why will RTSP take 3-4 months of employee testing? Are there security Concerns?
Wyze_mylinh: That’s a great question. The testing itself doesn’t take a long time - updating the code with feedback from our testers is what takes longer. The number of Wyze users that use RTSP is super low, but we also recognize how important it is for you. We are 100% committed to getting it done, but it just might take a little longer compared to our other features.
EDIT: I just confirmed with one of our firmware engineers that the code for v3 is actually quite different from v2, so we practically needed to build it again from scratch. Regardless, I totally understand the frustration of waiting, but I appreciate your patience!
(USER RESPONSE): If RTSP were part of the stock firmware without giving up the other features too, I’d buy more cams
Wyze_mylinh: That’s great feedback! I’ll be sure to bring it up to the firmware team to explore.
Why not have events record a couple of seconds prior to detection?

Thanks for sharing this concern! From firmware we do pre-record, but it depends on the situation. If you’re seeing people once they’re already in the frame, I would try to adjust the sensitivity of motion detection or the PIR effective area to get your recordings to start sooner.
How did the idea for the Wyze Car come about?

I’m not sure about the origin - I’ll check with the hardware team and get back to you! But one of Wyze’s core values is wanting to bring cool and fun technology to Wyze customers. Wyze Car was something we saw as maybe an interesting and fun thing we could do!
Will there be true horizontal support to the iPad App, its still in vertical orientation?

Thanks for the feedback! I checked with our app team - so far, we supported the landscape mode in some pages, but to support in the app level is a huge effort, especially when dealing with fragmented screen size and ratio. If you would like to check the camera not on the cell phone, stay tuned with us as we share more updates on our upcoming browser view!

Any thoughts on if we can make the Wyze Car faster?
When it says “stage 1 complete”, press the button on the left of the steering wheel. Here’s a quick video demonstration I recorded for ya.

Plans for 4k cameras?

We understand how important a sharp and clear image is. But unfortunately this is not on the plan yet, we’ll reevaluate as the market progresses
I may [or may not] have accidentally tagged a few responses as being by WyzeShawn when they were actually by one of the other employees [because my template had Shawn’s name in there by default since he did most of the answers), but otherwise what was quoted is still correct and from a Wyze employee. If anyone checks the source link and notices a name correction that should be made, let me know and I’ll update it.
