Web Events for Cam Pan v4 play audio only, no video in playback with Chrome

I have a Wyze Cam Pan V4 plus 4 other cams. I purchased cam unlimited so I can view on my lap top. When I try to view events on my lap top it says I need Google Chrome for my V4 cam. So I downloaded Chrome and went to view my V4 cam which now shows up but all I get is sound and no video. All my other cams work fine. Anybody have a fix for this?

I haven’t seen other reports of that particular issue or experienced it myself. What else can you share about your experience? Is Cam Pan v4 behaving normally otherwise (i.e., in the app)? Is the Web View issue only when viewing events? Does the live view for Cam Pan v4 work for you in Web View when using Google Chrome? Are you using any potentially problematic browser extensions, and have you tried temporarily disabling those to see if that changes your experience?

I only have the problem when I am trying to view events on the Cam Unlimited which it said I needed Google Chrome to view events on my lap top. Everything else works fine on my phone on the Wyze app but on my laptop I only get sounds on events with the cam pan v4 plus. The event that are supposed to have video only play the sound. I don’t have any browsers that i thunks would effect it.

I have the same problem (sound only, no video of events) with solar pan cameras when accessing on web. All my other cameras display video. I am also using chrome browser. I don’t receive any message - just a black screen where video should be. Have you been able to resolve yet?

Yeah that’s the problem I’m having. everything works fine on my phone but I wanted to be able to do things on my laptop. Wyze made it sound like if I got Cam Unlimited for $100 on my laptop I could do the same things I can do on my phone. Well that was a wasted $100 so I hardly ever use my laptop to view things.I used to have a program called Blue Stakes to view my cameras and that worked great but something changed with that program so it no longer works on my laptop.

@26tudor and @josephswells

Open chrome and go to chrome://settings/?search=acceleration

Try toggling the graphics acceleration off and see if that changes anything.

Also confirm if you have any ad or cookie blockers or other extensions that might be interfering. You can actually disable all extensions by going into “incognito” mode and trying it from there to see if it makes any difference (this also ignores all cookies, cached site settings, etc).

I guess maybe try the incognito thing first, then try disabling acceleration (ideally you want acceleration on if your system supports it).

The Panv4 uses the “HEVC” codec for 4K, which Chrome includes, but maybe your graphics cards can’t support hardware decoding of that protocol, or there is some other issue/corruption with chrome.

I need to clarify that my inability to view pan cam video on the web pertains to events only. I am able to view pan cameras live on the web. Puzzling - what is different about pan camera event video vs other cameras. I tried incognito mode and still no video. The pan cameras are new installation and I haven’t added SD yet, All of my other cameras have SD. Is event video recovery only available on the pan cameras from SD?

Just tried all of the above did the incognito first with my add blocker off still no change get sound but no video.

Do you have SD in your pan camera?

No you should not need an SD card. So live view works fine but events don’t?

Sounds like there may be an issue going on with Wyze servers maybe. Do the events show up/play fine in the app?

In app all event videos are displayed. On web all cameras events displayed except my pan cameras without SD. I’ll install SD and post the outcome.

Yes I have a SD card

Just want to confirm that dave27 is correct. I added SD to my solar pan cams and still just a black screen with audio when viewing events in web view

This is goofy. I’m unable to view video playback for Cam Pan v4 events on the Web Events page in Chrome regardless of the graphics acceleration setting, and disabling extensions also seems to make no difference. I get the event audio but only a black screen for video.

I can view event playback from Web Events in Firefox. The events also play as expected in the Wyze app, so they’re being recorded on Wyze’s servers as expected.

I haven’t contacted Support about this particular issue. Have you tried that @26tudor? If so, then what did they say?

I haven’t contacted support about this. I was thinking about cancelling my cam unlimited plan since it doesn’t do what I thought it would do on my laptop.

I contacted support. They suggested same solutions mentioned in this thread. Also when I told them I have no benefit from those suggestions they instructed me to reset camera. I did that and continue with black screen. I’ve notified them and waiting to hear back from technical support. By the way my operating system is Chromebook. I also tried and in Windows PC operating chromium operating system with same black screen.

@26tudor, I agree that this isn’t behaving as expected. I’m able to replicate this, and I want to get some input from other volunteers, because I haven’t seen other reports about this issue, so I don’t have a good idea about its extent. Questions:

  1. Would you mind if we update your topic title to something like “Web Events for Cam Pan v4 play audio only, no video in playback with Chrome”?
  2. What browser were you using before you switched to Chrome in order to use Cam Pan v4 with Wyze Web Portal? Have you tried Web Events playback with that?
  3. Have you tried viewing Web Events for Cam Pan v4 in Mozilla Firefox? If so, then what was your experience?

@josephswells, I don’t capture enough events with Solar Cam Pan to see this same issue for that Cam, and I’ve been focused here on Cam Pan v4 because that’s how this topic is tagged and titled, but I wonder if what you’re experiencing is part of the same problem, and I’ll ask the volunteers about that, as well.

Sure that’s fine.

Is that an answer to question #1? If so, then what about the others?

Yeah sorry I got distracted I was using firefox before I went to chrome.I tried web events playback on Edge then down loaded Chrome .
