Does anyone have any information if Wyze plans to ever produce the wall switch again? Ive been using Wyze Cams since the original cam and with Belkin sunseting my Wemo smart switches i want to switch everything over to one app. My switches just stopped working and as they control my outdoor lights I need a solution.
Welcome to the Forum, @kcygan87! ![]()
I haven’t seen anything to indicate that Wyze Switch has been discontinued. If you haven’t already done so, then I’d be inclined to sign up for availability alerts. On the product page in Wyze Shop on the Web site, you should see a “Notify me when back in stock!” button. You can sign up for SMS alerts there. If you’re viewing the product page via the Shop tab in the app, you can also sign up for notifications there, but that one requests an e-mail address instead. ![]()
That’s a good reminder about the Belkin Wemo products. I recall hearing about that recently, and I think my sister and brother-in-law have some of their smart Wi-Fi plugs. I’ll have to ask them about that when I visit this week. ![]()
Thanks for the reply, I’ve been monitoring various outlets and Wyzes own website for a few months now and requested in stock alerts. They have remained out of stock everywhere for at least 3 months probably longer which is why I feel they no longer manufacture them
You’re welcome. I understand the concern, but I’m inclined to think about it as more of a demand and supply chain issue. The Wi-Fi Chime has been in demand and out of stock for months, as well, though that’s a newer product (introduced with Duo Cam Doorbell last year and then sold independently starting this year), and I wouldn’t expect that to be discontinued so soon. I feel like this is a big waiting game unless someone from Wyze can supply better information.
If you don’t want to wait on Wyze and don’t need a solution strictly within their ecosystem, then I’m comfortable recommending Kasa HS200s. I have a 3-pack of those that I installed several years ago and bought them because I wanted something to control power to outdoor lights via routines in Google Home, and Wyze wasn’t yet selling their Switch. I think the Wyze Switch launched several months after I bought and installed these. They’ve been solid for me, and I’ve installed another 3-pack for my sister at her house, also with good performance.
Incidentally, I looked up the Belkin Wemo situation and saw that support for many of those devices is supposed to stop at the end of January, so I passed that along to my brother-in-law. While I was visiting last week, their Wemo smart plugs were still working, but I expect that’ll end after next month, because they’re currently integrated into Google Home, and my understanding is that Belkin is essentially shutting down their Wemo cloud service.
Just adding a “me too” to this. I’m looking to buy more of the Wyze Switch. I called Wyze and she could only tell me they are currently out of stock, same as what the product page shows. I’ve signed up for the “Notify” option. Like the OP, I’d like to know an ETA (i.e., in the next 3-6 months?) or if being discontinued.
Likewise waiting to purchase one, if/when they ever get them back in stock.
Wish they’d at least tell us if discontinued so we can move on to other solutions if that’s the case.
I’ll also add my support for the Kasa switches as an available alternative to the Wyze Switch. I was preparing my home for an extended time away from it a few months ago. I installed five Wyze Switches, but I really needed seven. I installed Kasa switches as my final two; an HS200 (similar to the Wyze Switch), and a KS225 (which is like a Wyze Swich with a dimmer on it.)
I too had a concern about adding something outside the Wyze ecosystem, and just desired to have everything in one place on my phone to control things. Truth is, the Kasa’s worked better and had a more desirable timer setup than Wyze. I wanted to randomize the start and stop times on my different lights, but not to the extent that Wyze’s “Vacation mode” does. Wyze’s Vacation Mode is so random that it might turn on a light for a very short or very long time, OR it might not turn a light on until after 10:00 pm (as an example.) I wanted my home to look occupied while I was away, and that included various lights switching on and off at the more popular times others might notice, such as between 5:00 and 9:00 pm. I was able to set up the Kasa timers more easily (day by day) to do this. For Wyze, I had to set up separate schedules and be manually switching schedules from abroad.
I’ll also say that the Wyze Switches failed to operate correctly after about 30 days, and I’m still trying to get an answer to that one. After about 30 days away, the four Wyze Switches I had on schedules suddenly stopped following the schedules I’d set up, all at once. I could still manually control them from overseas, but they would no longer follow the schedules I’d set up for them. I’m still trying to get an answer to that one. If I can’t get that resolved, I’ll switch them out to Kasa switches.
Guess I’ll have to look into the Kasa switches. Too bad we can’t get any substantive response from Wyze just letting us know for sure if the item has been discontinued, or it’s just a supply issue or new model coming.
I faced the same thing with the Wyze Floor Lamp. Nice lamp, I have several of them. Needed a bulb for one of them. First of all they’re saying the lamps are “unavailable” now. But won’t say one way or another if they’ve been discontinued. And they absolutely do not carry or have available any replacement bulbs for the floor lamps. They were good about crediting me for my most recent purchase of them when I wouldn’t let it go easily, but who sells lamps with a unique bulb, and doesn’t make spare bulbs available?
I’d also like to see more transparency about item availability, and this has apparently also been an issue with things like the Universal Wi-Fi Chime and Cam OG Telephoto recently. I share your frustration.
While I don’t have hands-on experience with these, because of my positive experience with the Kasa switches I’d probably also consider Tapo smart switches because they’re from the same company and appear to have similar features. I’ve had good performance from a couple of Tapo cameras and some of their smart plugs that I’ve used. That might be another alternative if you don’t want to wait on Wyze for this.
Thank you for the options. I’ll look into them. Too bad that Wyze is basically a no show/no response company.
You’re welcome. While I don’t agree with the assessment of the company—because I have seen evidence that they’re responsive to some issues—even before becoming a community volunteer (and since) I’ve been critical of their perceived communication deficiencies and have often gotten the impression that they’re stretched pretty thin and could benefit from more personnel addressing public-facing customer messaging.
I’d also note that it’s important to keep in mind that the Forum is primarily a user-to-user support community and that there’s no guarantee that anyone employed by Wyze will see a particular topic or post. I think you’ve done the right thing by contacting Support directly, and I wish I had a better answer for you (and others) about product availability. That’s really frustrating as an existing/potential customer who wants to spend money with them, so you’d think they’d want to do whatever is necessary to make these products available, but I have no insight into that process. ![]()
Points taken. Here’s to hoping for the best, as I do like their products.
Just a heads up they just went back in stock at Wyze.com but only showing 5 in stock
Thank you KCYGAN87. Just bought a 3 pack. Singles weren’t available. Thank you, thank you, thank you!! Oh - and thank you. ![]()
Just got an email - with no explanation. “Your order has been canceled” What the heck??’
Refunded Items
Wyze Switch Ă— 1
3 Pack
Refunded
So far mine still says confirmed but I still dont have a tracking number so I wouldn’t be surprised if I get the same email. I also need to replace 2 older wyze cams and was planning on buying a doorbell and deadbolts but waiting to see how this order goes. If they cancel my order I’ll give up on wyze and move on to something else. I really like the wyze app and everything integrated together nicely but I dont want to keep shuffling multiple apps.
I just spoke to my bank, and they confirmed that the cancellation was not due to anything on the banks side. I just got an email from Wyze support. In short, it sounds like a timing issue where their web page doesn’t update stock levels quick enough. And subscribing for notification doesn’t seem to help much in these cases, as I never got an email (yup, checked spam folder too). But I’m still signed up for email notification for 1-pack, 3-pack and refurbished units.
Wyze response:
“At this time, the Wyze Switch is currently out of stock, which is why the order was canceled. We understand you only need one unit, and we regret that we are unable to fulfill the request right now.
We recommend subscribing to our newsletter to receive updates and notifications once the product becomes available again. This will help ensure you’re among the first to know when it is back in stock.“
Still waiting. ![]()
